A beautifully designed and massively illustrated overview of the great Houdini's life and times. Well researched and covers all the highlights and interesting trivia of the escape artist's unique career and personal life. A steal at this price. Montague has also done similar excellent work on H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe and others.

Excellent book, very well presented. The author does perhaps go into too much detail about people in the periphery of Houdini's life, but it isn't intolerable. Yet information about his wife and family seems rather limited, which I found rather odd. But yet, again, I did still rather like this book.

Surprisingly well-written with wonderful photos and additional information. Highly readable. Kudos to the author! I have read almost all Houdini books, and this one is certainly among the top ones...

A very entertaining and informative biography with lots of photographs and information I've not read elsewhere.

Purchased this for my 10 year old son for his book report and HOLY SNOT am I glad I read through it first!! Almost at the back there is a section called “Sex and Seances” and it’s VERY explicit/graphic in nature!! It also has literally nothing to do with Houdini or the rest of the book. Super disappointed in what was an otherwise excellent book.
