Has anybody used a sealer on this wood? Does it need it?

I tend not to keep it anywhere it can get wet. However if you opt for a sealant use a polyurethane wood finisher since this shelf is made with a very soft and porous wood.

Side pieces are uneven and it's missing one of the foot pads . Anyone know how to get replacement pieces ? Tia

At that point I would request a replacement from the seller.
