Ce livre contient beaucoup de photos familiales et d'autres avec des ami(e)s. Il y a aussi des copies de divers documents appartenant à John Wayne : passeport, permis de conduire, certificat de mariage, carte du parti républicain....Il y a aussi des copies de courriers reçus par Duke ainsi que des échanges entre lui et John Ford.Attention le tout est en anglais.Les documents sont soient fixés en coin dans le livre soit libres dans une des enveloppes grand format se trouvant dans le livre. (Il faut donc que le livre soit bien livré avec une protection plastique pour que rien ne puisse être retiré.)A la fin quelques petits posters de quelques films.Attention également : il n'y a pas beaucoup de photos de films. Très très peu en fait. Il n'y a pas non plus la liste de ses films. Mais pour cela, photos des films et liste il existe d'autres livres.Pour les fans je recommande fortement même si on comprend peu l'anglais.

I bought this for my hubby for his birthday in December 2013. After watching a copule of JW westernes last Friday night, as he settled with a large whiskey and the dog on his lap (a parsons terier who also loves westerns) and enjoyed a very happy and relaxed evening.We have both been JW fans from childhood but I suddenly realised that there was so much more to this man than he is credited with so I went on the net to try and choose a book that my hubby could enjoy.This is much more than a book – its beautifully crafted with so much personal detail with notes, letters pictures that are very personal and a script exert for one of his best ever movies True Grit.I will have to wait to see what he thinks when he gets this in December but I am bowelled over by it and got quite emotional just looking through it – and yes there is so much more to this great man than he is credited with. A must for JW fans and gratitude to his family for sharing such intimate parts of his life.

For me, this book seems to answer a request from the John Wayne's clan to show him under his best posture and to flatter his overall image. Nothing wrong about it ! It gives a lot of precious information and documents to please the collector or the fan, but not the Cinephile who is more interesting in the John Wayne's deeper involvement in the movies creation, in producers and Hollywood connections, in his political views, even if they can lead to debate. If you a Fan, you will be satisfied, otherwise it will be somehow disappointing.
