MerrellMen's Moab 3 GTX Hiking Shoe

I was looking for waterproof hiking shoes for both casual and fairly long walks both on and off roads and tracks. I’ve already done an 8 mile mixed walk with no discomfort or blisters and I find the shoes are great. A little disappointed with the traction on some wet surfaces as I have a pair of heavy duty boots (Mendl) also with viberim soles which have much better grip so deduct one star but overall a great buy for the money. From my experience it seems very difficult to get the sweet spot (weight, waterproofing, well vented ) in one shoe but you won’t go too far wrong with these if you have regular size and width feet.One other thing I live in Ireland and would much prefer to buy from shops here so I can try them out however none seem to have sufficient stock or any!! in size 9 for some reason I can’t fathom so I’m forced to buy from UK or Germany, crazy !!!

Very much a hiking shoe. Thought it would be a good shoe for general winter use but it's too bulky / heavy for that. But I've done a decent hillwalk in them in February in Yorkshire and they were comfy (wasn't raining but a lot of boggy ground - feet stayed dry).They run really small. I'm a 9 in Clarks and needed an 11 in these.

Very happy with these really comfortable with good grip and most importantly the price was excellent

I have a wide (no not fat) foot but these are weird. Had Merrells before and had been a good fit but these are so wide you can’t possibly adjust the laces enough to stop them slopping around. I know just how Krusty feels. Can’t go a size smaller as the length is already touch and go. Will have to wear as ordinary day use, I couldn’t use these for any significant walking. Unfortunately I have worn them to find this out so can’t return them.

I really like these shoes since they are very comfortable, fit as expected, and since they're lined with Goretex they will keep my feet warm and dry for many years.

After wearing these on a few hikes I've reduced these to 3/5. I've rolled my ankle 3 times now. I find the soles too clunky and rolling them is too easy. They are heavy and not particularly comfortable either. I went with a size 12, half a size bigger than my perfectly fitting Northface Hedgehogs. The 12s were too small so returned at my expense to swap for a 12.5. Poor from Merrell as there is no way I'm a 12.5!So in summary, sizing is all wrong, they are heavy and easy to go over on your ankle in.

Love Merrell and these don’t disappoint. Looks fab too.

Very good quality, reasonably light shoe that fits very well and looks good too. They were delivered promptly and I’m now in the process of bedding them in but probably won’t use them in earnest for a couple of months yet.
