Fun Color by Number
Color by number is one of my favorite categories of coloring books. This book is amazing fun. I do have the Mindware colored pencils that I am using in this book, but the colors are easy enough to color match with whatever your preferred media is. There is a 36 color palette for the book. The pages are single-sided so you can use alcohol markers, though I honestly wouldn't recommend it due to the way they tend to bleed. Make sure you add a blotter page whether you use alcohol markers or not.I believe the squares are 5mm. The numbers are easy to read, though I do have to have a light on because they are a light grey. The white squares have no number which is great. I hate having to white out numbers from white spaces in other books. These books have a random assortment of images. Mindware has another series that has a specific theme for each book. There are 4 double-sided images per book. The double-sided pages are back-to-back.They use 1/2 squares in rounded areas so do look more detailed than the majority of the mosaic type color by number books. Now for the con: These books only have 18 images so compared to most books their $8.95 plus $2.99 shipping cost makes them pretty expensive for what you get. Mindware was having a sale on their site so I did pick up several more books there, but even without the shipping costs $9 for 18 images is considerably more costly than most other color by number books. The cost is really my only complaint. I will probably keep buying them as I finish them because I do really enjoy the process of coloring them and the images do look very nice, but I will grumble about it every time.

Great gift for someone recouping
My elderly friend loves to color but was telling me about these kinds of books. I had never heard of a mystery mosaic, found it here on Amazon and sent it to her. She is now one happy lady.

even nicer than described!
This mystery color by number square mosaic book is really nice. Some of the squares are split into triangles for more defined shapes and some of the pictures fold out of the book into double pages. All the pages are single sided so you can use marker and perforated so you can remove them - the double page sized pictures are a single large sheet of paper that tears out. The squares and numbers are small so this designed is for an older child or adult. There are 18 pictures (4 of which are double sized). The inside cover lists 36 colors needed for the book including 5 shades of gray. Mosaic 1 only used 12 colors so you don't use every color on every page. Apparently you can buy a set of colored pencils specifically coordinated to this book but you can make do without.

Tiny squares to color in
I was hoping this was a color by number book. It is much more like a puzzle. You color the tiny squares (like on graph paper) according to the directions and a picture is revealed when you are done. Too hard for a child younger than 8 or 9.The book is nicely printed and made for some durability.

Take the screens away and do this instead!
This is such a fun, time consuming activities for kids and adults alike! I especially love this when we are traveling far in the car, waiting at the doctors, sitting at a restaurant, etc. Let's take the screens out of our kids faces and do something that stimulates their minds. You'd be surprised how much your kids would actually take to something like this. Plus, they'll feel a sense of accomplishment at completing a picture. I recommend buying a large set of multicolored thin markers, as it uses various versions of the same color. Love this, and when my 9 year old daughter finishes will definitely be buying more!

Love! But Not For Little Ones
This book is amazing. I got this for my 7 yr old daughter. Honestly, she is not that into it. I think I should have waited until she was a little older. It just doesn't hold her attention. She has gotten like 1/4 through about 3 pages, and I am pretty sure she is completely done with it. I ordered a huge box of markers to go with it, and even though they are small tip, they are still too big. I would recommend super fine tip or colored pencils. The square size is the only thing that puts this off for me. They are really small and I can hardly see the numbers for what color to use.Now that she is finished with it, I think I am going to snatch it lol. It is a great concept and something I would have fun with!

An Honest Review
I like these books. I prefer to use alcohol markers for coloring so if you do as well then I recommend making a copy of the pictures onto better paper. The paper in the books is decent but it’s not meant for markers so it bleeds heavily and makes staying in the lines super hard.3 reasons why I’m knocking off stars:- When you use the perforated tear out sheet it leaves the corresponding color chart behind and then you have to try and carefully tear it out by hand and try not to rip it. Most of the time it ends up tearing which makes it hard to include when copying the picture to better paper.- Many of the pictures have mistakes in the numbers inside the blocks. Sometimes the blocks have 2 of the same number when they should have 2 different numbers. One picture I did had the number 5 put in a few blocks when that number should not have been anywhere in that picture. You could clearly tell it was a 5 because of the straight line at the top of the number while the surrounding 6s clearly had a curved line at their top.- Because of the above this can’t truly be a “mindless” activity which is what a lot of us are looking for. It means I have to pay attention to all the numbers in the picture so I don’t mess it up. While a few numbers might not seem like a big deal it could mean you end up putting hot pink in the middle of a koala picture if you aren’t paying attention.

Fun time passing activity!
This is a great activity to pass time. Unlike colour by numbers, you do not know which picture you are colouring when you start! There is a mixture of big (2paged) and small (1 paged) photos! I would recommend also buying mindwares coloured pencils so you aren't guessing whether "is this considered golden?"

Buy the colour pencils
They have a colour legend but if you don't by their colour pencils you are left trying to match what you have to their legend which can be difficult.
