Tchaikovsky Edition

gotta say this guy tchaikovosky has amazed me elated me reduced me to tears of catharsis. i mean wow. i am in my lower 60's now and i kick myself for not really being aware of this mans importance in musical history. sure i always knew about some of his stuff. i along with many other children were taken to see the nutcracker at some time while inelementary school. i have a recording of an old seminal prog rock group from britan called the Nice theydo the third movement from the 6th symphony. so i have listened to all of the discs except the opera ones. i start them later this afternoon.some reflections while listening. REDUCED to tears of catharsis happened listening to swan lake. about 2 weeks ago i was not stoned at all. i only have the music. i know its a ballet. heck i am even somewhat familiar with the story depicted by dance. so about the end of the fourth act i started feeling strange. as the concluding act played out i felt emotion welling inside me that has been suppressed for far too long. i wept with shaking sobs tears streaming down my face. i wept for the passing of my parents the friends i have lost and the joy of hearing this beautiful music in its entirety. a few nights later i was mildly high on pot and thought i would now listen to the violin concerto. put on the headphones and close my eyes to relax NIX THAT about 7 minutes in i realized i hearing something not quite sure whatthough. descending cellos with the violin just skitting away playing all around a chord. wow i was amazed aand thrilled. it was almost atonal. i will stop here. i have been so thrilled to purchase this set. thanks amazon. and thanks tchaikovsky for all your great work.

I bought this last year and been listening to it ever since. glad I bought this before they ran out."The only near complete Edition of Tchaikovsky available!"I would be interested to know what is missing. as for the 55 cd set it was totally awesome. I have always lovedTchaikovsky works. you read about composers in Russia and how hard some of their lives were and they still composed fantastic music. he died at the age of 53 and in his short life he managed to put out a lot of music.put on a cd and relax

Finally! A complete Tchaikovsky collection which not only is performed by the most superior orchestra/musicians, but also a recording of the very highest-quality! I've found no defective CDs (so far --- I'll update if I do). I'd recommend this collection highly!

Brilliant Classics seems to have problems putting out good CD's I confirm above review about this. Impossible to rip some CD;s to computer. Also applies to Schubert Edition.

I am quite impressed by the quality and so far have not found any defective CD’s.I have listened to:LITURGY OF ST JOHN CHRYSOSTOM (CD 22)I was amazed at the sheer beauty of this recording which brought tears to my eyes as it brought back memories for a Russian trip and visit to an Orthodox Church.SWAN LAKE ‐ SLEEPING BEAUTY (CD 12)A very enjoyable and robust performance with excellent sound.Manfred – Symphony in four scenes after Byron Op.58 (CD 7)I am not very familiar with this work, the performance seems quite good.STRING QUARTETS (CD 25)Well recorded and very enjoyable.Needless to say, I still have 51 more CD’s to enjoy and I will update this review at a later date.

decent packaging, almost complete, very spirited Russian singers and orchestras. of course an excellent value, but mine had several defective discs and there has been no response from Brilliant.

Il box mi piace molto anche se non contiene tutte le composizioni di Tchaikovsky (però mancava poco, ed io poi ho trovato tutto). Quello che non capisco è la mancanza dei testi delle "Opere" che ci sono, e di altri testi cantati, peccato. Per questa mancanza meriterebbe 3 stellette. Saluti.

Obra casi completa, de sonido muy bueno, y que hace disfrutar durante muchas horas. Echo de menos, tal vez, un CD con datos, partituras, letras de canciones, etc como vienen en otras recopilaciones y obras completas de Brilliant Classics.
