I was a bit disappointed AT FIRST when scoring with the included tool. It was so sharp that it actually ripped the paper in two. Aha! I thought.... and turned the tool around and used the handle end for scoring (since it wasn't as sharp) Since it worked great as a scoring tool after doing that, Ifeel like whether the design was intentional or accidental, I actually have another cutter. They should talk about this in the advertising of it because had I not tried the duller end of the tool, I might have had a more negative review. I like how it comes with directions and measurements to make envelopes and gift boxes as well. The markings for the ruler could be darker which would make it easier to read, but it's not a deal breaker. All in all, it's a good price. ... Especially because it's like getting 2-in-1 of you use it as a cutter. I always enjoy finding out there are fun toys like this to simplify a project instead of "the way I have been doing it"! Do you NEED one of these? No, probably not. BUT I say Why Not make it easier, quicker, and more accurate if you can? 😊

Thick board. Lays flat and lines are straight. The gaps are big enough to fold the lines in.

this is a very handy tool, however, as mentioned in other reviews the measurement marks are very hard to see. i took masking tape, covered the edges and painted a small amount of black paint over the numbers. before it dried i wiped it off with damp paper towels and now i can see the measurement marks with no problem.
