The Treasure Box

Not Your Typical Children's Book
THE TREASURE BOX is a somewhat sad story about a family and a village that is forced to flee their homes during war. During a war, the village library is destroyed and all the books, but one are destroyed. The one book that isn't destroyed was checked out by Peter's father. It is his favorite book. When the war intensifies, all of the villagers are forced to flee, including Peter and his family. Peter's father keeps the book safe by putting it in a steel box. It is a book about the history of their people and as Peter's father says, "It is rarer than rubies, more splendid than silver, greater than gold." The story doesn't unfold quite as one would expect and Peter and his family encounter tragedy along the way. There comes a point where Peter has to part with the box and the rest of the story explains what happened to Peter and the treasure box.

fundamental flaw
My major gripe with this ebook version is that the book does not rotate. This book is designed to be viewed 2 open pages at a time. This takes away from the impact of the illustrations.
