Great activity for most ages!
We are having fun digging for rocks with my two kiddos. Even my two year old gets excited to help! Would make a great gift or party activity. They are a little difficult to crack into, and are definitely messy, but that’s why it’s fun!

Soak first for easier digging
I bought a few of these for my son’s fossil dog party. My sister suggested soaking them over night before the party and I’m so glad I did. If not, it would have taken HOURS for the kids to get to the fossils/gemstone and minerals inside all the ones I bought!!! High quality fun and was a HIT with all the kids!

Fun activity!
Did this ad an activity with a group of kids while camping (ages 1.5-8). We had a scavenger hunt where the kids had to find the purple rocks, then got to dig out the gemstones. Minus 1 stat because it was so hard to dig the gemstones out. But nice that the purple stuff on the outside is just chalk. It made a huge mess, but chalk is easy to wash away. The babies had fun just drawing on the ground with the extra pieces of chalk. But even the bigger kids were getting frustrated that it was taking 30+ minutes to dig out the gemstones. They started just chucking them at the ground to break them open. The adults ended up having to do most of the digging. I do really love the cards that came with the set though. The kids (and adults) loved learning about each gemstone.

Perfect for 4-5 year olds
My 5 yr old boy loved this activity and had so much fun digging for gems. He even shared it with his uncle and aunt to dig with him. And helped his 2 yr old sister (but wanted to keep her gem to himself) It was a fun activity for them.
