VARUN Flymo Spool Cap/Cover Power Trim 500, 600, 700 FLY060

Bought this for my Flymo 500XT arrived in good time fitted it to the strimmer, seemed to be not that great a fit but appeared to clip into place.Started to strim and then spent the next 15 minutes looking for my strim cable spool as the cap flew off into the wide blue yonder the cap was easy to find as it is bright orange!Thinking I hadn't fitted it properly I made the mistake of trying again......hindsight's a wonderful thing.......re ordered another on Amazon making sure it was original Flymo spare part it arrived this morning clipped it on and perfect...............lesson learned don't buy Chinese copy rubbish.

I ordered this item having bought a previous one from Amazon 5 years ago . Amazon reminded me of this when buying another one and asked if l would like to buy same one . As l am using same strimmer l went ahead and bought what l thought would be the same cap and therefore a perfect fit . This cap does not fit my strimmer dispite it meant to be the same as 5 years ago . Have to buy another one and this time will check the discription myself and not rely on anyone else .

Ordered this as it is implied that it is a genuine Flymo part, it isn't and consequently requires the strength of Hercules to fit to the machine and the strength of Hercules and Goliath to remove. The fitting is so tight if it is not fitted correctly it flies off. Disappointing.

This cap fits my 'Power Trim 500XT' so I am well chuffed, having completely lost it's grey coloured predecessor somewhere in the brambles and long grass on the dirt track that runs behind my back gardens fence. I am now back in action in less than 48 hrs after ordering this cap and a genuine Flymo cord spool via Amazon. The loss was created by my use of a cheaper brand's spool ( with the blue coloured cord ) which had to be disentangled on it's spool due to it's poor quality of manufacture. I am not promoting Flymo products out of any commercial interests but If I had not used that rubbishy, cheap, DIY company's own brand, spool ( which was marketed as being compatible for my strimmer) I would not have had the subsequent problem.Eamonn

You have to take such care when you try and save money with articles such as these.There is a horrid gap on one side of the spool where I know detritus is going to get caught. Not happy but cannot be bothered to send it back.Damn it!
