Colorado Spice Hickory Smoke Powder, 24 Ounce

This powder has a rich smoke aroma and flavor. I love that it does not have that bitter aftertaste that I have found some liquid smoke products to have. I agree with a previous reviewer that it does tend to clump when rubbed on the wet surfaces of meat but I was able to easily remedy this by combining the smoke powder with my other spices such as garlic and onion powder, seasoned salt etc., before applying it to the meat. Also, drying the surface of the meat helps as well. I highly recommend this product. Its great.

I enjoy grilling and making the related side dishes like baked beans etc. I am guilty of using at least 2 or 3 bottles of liquid smoke each month. After finding this product on Amazon I thought I would give it try. I have used several products from Colorado Spice and they have been good. This product was clumpy and does not sprinkle like a pinch of salt or anything else. If you try to rub onto or into meat it turns to a sticky paste which sticks well to your hands but not the meat. The smell is strong hickory and so is the taste (to strong or maybe the paste is too thick) I am back to liquid smoke. After 40 years of cooking it is still the only item that consistantly works.

Great, but expensive!

Can't tell if it's really that good. There's no instructions as to the quantity to use. Experimentation gets to be expensive. Would not buy again until I find instructions on its use. This could be a very good product but I have no way of knowing without being able properly mix. Fast delivery though.

I'm still trying to decide if I like this or not. I have tried it in several applications and although it has a good flavor it's really strong. It doesn't come with any directions on how to use it or any advice on how much to use so it's a guessing game. I think I have enough to last me a lifetime though lol.

Nothing like great powder smoke! I've been using it ever since - in marinades or just seasoning. It's highly concentrated, so be careful how much you put in your dish. In my case it remove a need to mess with wood chips and smoking out the neighborhood.

I was buying to season pork rind....it is awful!!!! Spent that money and can't use it.

I received this item and two other items of the same size....they were not packed in the box but just allowed to shift around .....consequently the Hickory Smoke Powder container was broken and thepowder was all over the place.........need to at least pack items a little better........not happy with the broken container.
