Well, I don't own a pick-up truck or a trailer. I bought the cargo bar(s) for an "outside the box" purpose. I needed it as part of my Hurricane Irma building protection plan. My home has a front door-side lite combo and needed wind and debris protection. My storm shutters fit into the opening perfectly. Unfortunately, there was no retention mechanism. My solution was to install the shutters against the door and extend two of these cargo bars in the opening against the panels, ratcheting them tightly against the door frame masonry. They performed flawlessly, holding the storm panels in place. My front door and window were protected. I saved time and didn't need to drill into the masonry and tile to install channels or studs.I would highly recommend these cargo bars. If they can withstand a hurricane, I suspect that they will most likely keep a few boxes from sliding around a truck bed.

I don't actually use the product for its intended use. I use it to barricade my front door for security purposes. I've had it for a week and it already came in handy. Yesterday morning I was ready to jump in the shower when my wife said someone was attempting to gain access to our apartment via the front door. Whoever it was had tried the doorknob with no luck. The way I use the bar, it jams the deadbolt in place so even the right key won't turn the lock. I wedge the bar between the front door and the coat closet door across from it. I don't know if it a maintenance man without permission, an old tenant trying his/her key or possibly someone with poor intentions. Either way, thanks to your cargo bar and a weird idea, it has saved us from a surprise visitor.

I've never had a cargo bar before, so I don't have others to compare this one to, but I can guarantee that it is very simple and quick to use. I actually use it in the trunk of my car to prevent groceries and shopping bags from tumbling over and spilling all over my trunk. The rubber ends assist in gripping but they also prevent paint scratches inside my car. The bar itself isn't that heavy but it it is metal and really well made. All I do is pull the bar out to the length I need it and secure it in place with the ratchet. It's super easy and quick to set up and take back down - you don't even have to be strong to use this cargo bar - I love it!

Ordered this for my Toyota Of Road Tacoma with short bed w/liner and tonneau cover and tie down system. We were having a problem with groceries and gas cans sliding around in the bed. I had bungee cords and straps but it was a hassle in a hot parking lot to tie everything down. Saw this bar on Amazon and it looked nice. Ordered and it was shipped quickly and well packaged when it arrived safely. Took it out of the box and it installed easily. Works like a charm. I love the fact you can mount in either direction and at any height with ease. Thank you Inferno I will be checking your products first from now on when I need gear that works and looks good on my Ride!

Only calling it a four star because I just received it and popped it in the bed of my Honda Ridgeline. But I can tell the quality is there, and I anticipate being very happy with the product. Arrived on time, well built- has a good heavy feel to it like a good tool should. Binds tight and locks in well. I was not compensated for this review.

I’m use to a heavier bar, tractor trailer , size so I may be judging the size and weight of this bar unfairly. Probably deserves a full 5 stars.It is easier to use because of the lighter compact size.I do like it enough that I bought another one and am thinking about a hanging net

PROS: good price, heavy duty, more precise sizing than other similar unitsCONS: not the easiest to lock into place, it is a little tricky knowing how much to ratchet it before locking it into place (locking it will tighten it down an additional ratchet, which can be too much)

Great Bar at a great price. I own a similar bar that you have to twist to tighten and untwist to loosen (no ratchet). It was about the same price several years ago (may be less or more now), and made of the same material and color. This ratchet Bar is so much easier to put in place and remove than the old Bar that I ended up hardly using due to its difficult install. I'm very please with this purchase.
