Bought them for both floors,
I was at my Son's home one night, in the kitchen, when the lights went out. I was afraid to even MOVE, as his basement stairs are across from the kitchen, about 3' away from me. I couldn't see my hand in front of my face, let alone my car keys to get home. Fortunately, the power was off for less than 5 minutes. After that, I went home and googled Emergency Lights. These are PERFECT, can also be unplugged and used as flashlight. Bought them for myself, both floors of my daughter's house, and my son't house. CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO HAVE THEM. Also, they would make great Christmas presents for anyone.

Superior Night Light & Emergency Light
I absolutely love this 3-in-1 Emergency Light. They last much longer than any other ones do. I have tried many others where the emergency part doesn't last long, that cover both outlets & don't put out as much light. They also offer superior customer service and stand by their replacement guarantee. I use these as night lights normally. I prefer to be able to always be able to see where I'm going at night. Also it's good for when you don't want to keep turning on a regular light for simple tasks. This light is absolutely amazing to use during a power outage. Instead of using my lantern, which is bulky & heavier, or a flashlight, which you need to hold to get it to light exactly where you want it to, I found it much more convenient to carry around this light. Not only is it small and lightweight, but every area I went to, I could just plug it in so it remains in one place lighting the whole area. When you're in survival mode, it's essential to have a simple light source that you don't have to think much about. You can just move from room to room or task to task very easily.2021:Still own 3 of these. It's now been about 8 yrs since my original purchase & they've been through several outages, in addition to daily use as a night light. It's a shame they don't sell them anymore.

Works, but much dimmer than I had hoped.
The lights arrived promptly, well packaged and work as described. In the last year or so we have had at least 3 extended power outages; two of which went on for longer than 24 hours, one of those was about 4-5 days.I have a nice backup generator I can plug into the house, but before I can do that, I need to go down to the basement and switch off the main power breaker for the power coming from the utility company to the house.I purchased 3 of these lights to illuminate not only my way down the stairs of the basement but also to mount one right above the breaker panel and have a ready source of light without my, or my family, needing to use a flashlight. The lights do work; remove the power source and they do come on. There is a little photo-eye that can read how much ambient light there is already and either dim or shut off entirely the light to conserve battery power. In sizing up locations where to mount the lights I found that any light reflected back to the photo-eye by a nearby object or wall caused the light to not reach full brightness; since I do not need it as a night light I may just cover the photo-eye.What disappoints me most though is how dull the light is even at full brightness. In this age of super bright LED's the dull yellow glow of these LED's is a letdown. In comparison, I have a small 6 LED flashlight that is extraordinarily bright; if this device were using regular incandescent bulbs you might think the batteries were starting to fade. This, IMHO, leaves it lacking as an ideal backup light for an emergency situation because the light does not carry as far as it could with brighter LED's.The dimmer light might be ideal as a nightlight. but this is being touted as an Emergency light first and night light second. If they wanted to really make a light that covers both functions then a Hi/Low switch should be added to dim the bright LED's for the purpose of a night light.Have a Magical Day

4 years later and still awesome
Bought this light 4 years ago in December 2013. Used it to light my stairs and hallway. I have 5 young children who love all things flashlight. I've found this flashlight a week after being unplugged and still working at the back of their closet.Reviews are correct in stating that it is not your traditional torch/flashlight. You will not get a beam of straight harsh lighting. If it's dusky, lighting won't seem very bright - but let's be honest, at dusk, it's still light and you can still see from sunlight. However, if in middle-of-the-night-pitch-darkness, this thing is magnificent. We recently moved to an open-floor plan home and as luck would have it, blackout 7 days later with no moon outside. This was the only light I had as we were still unpacking. The nightlight was situated at top of stairs. It lit up my entire second floor hallways, the entire stairwell and gave off enough light downstairs to get candles and to maneuver aroiund.I'm now buying 3 more to put into bathrooms and basement. My ONLY qualm, if any, would be prong location. It's a large unit and does a fantastic job of holding its charge and illuminating with a warm white/yellow light.

They last a long time when power goes off
I bought 2 of these years ago and they are now worn out. During a hurricane they lasted for 4 days until our power came back on. They were great to have in my house. I am concerned because I can't find these anymore nor anything like them. I don't want something that I need to hire an electrical engineer to install. Please get these back in stock or something similar that a normal human can use. I also don't need items used in a hospital or office.
