EDIT: The light doesn't always build up to full intensity in the morning. It seems to turn on at the lowest level and stay there, which doesn't wake me up. (I know this because my phone alarm will wake me up instead and I see the light is barely on.) Sometimes it works just fine and it's lovely...PROS:- The clock display can be turned off so that it's not shining all night.- It looks great, like something out of Black Mirror.CONS:- It emits a faint, high-pitched sound when the light is on (I have experienced this with other LED lights too). I can hear it as I'm waking up (with my head 2-3 feet away) but it doesn't seem to be a problem for me.- I wish that the light, after reaching maximum brightness after 30min, would stay on, until I turn it off.

There's a lot I like about this clock, the "slowly gets lighter" function works fine, though it's not a feature I would seek out again, I liked the different color lights you could set on the clock (it cycles through multiple light settings and is the perfect thing at the end of the night when you don't want to enter a dark room -- plus I often left it on when I left at night and it would cycle through colors making it seem like someone was home), but my biggest issue is it just doesn't work well anymore. First, all the light functions went away, both the alarm clock light function and the different colored lights function; which I could live with. It still worked as an alarm clock. Except it's not always working as an alarm clock, it often shuts off seemingly arbitrarily, like there's a bad plug, but the plug on both ends is...well, fully plugged in. It also sometimes switches to military time without warning. I did get two years out of it, maybe that's enough, but I'm now seeking out a new alarm clock.

I loved this idea so I bought this clock and the first morning the light worked great but after that, it no long gradually got brighter. It turned on at low level but never increased in intensity. The directions are not clear and I have tried for weeks to figure out this clock but I am so frustrated at this point I’m giving up. I have no idea how this item has received a 5 star rating so I started reading the comments of those ratings. It looks like the majority were created by a bot-the same one that has terrible grammar and doesn’t understand how to form a complete sentence. Great idea but extremely terrible execution.

Exceeded my expectations. My wakeup time is around 5:15, and the light wakes me up much more gently than my previous alarm clock. I've been using it fo about two weeks now, and waking up has honestly been easier with this guy. I love that you can turn off the clock display if it's too bright. The alarm sounds are quite nice. Definitely recommend!

I am not a "morning person". Garfield has always been my role model for that, haha. This alarm clock is great with the dawning-light in the morning, so when the "real" alarm goes off it is not like a cannon shooting me awake.It is also kewl that it has multi-levels of brightness for the time so when late at night it is not like a beacon in my face, and you can change the white light to an alternating colors to have ambiance of fun!

My main problem with this alarm is that the sunrise starts at a pretty bright light level. I found the light alone woke me up just as suddenly as my beeping alarm. It did get somewhat brighter over time. Also the dimmest display setting was still pretty bright to me. If you are a heavier sleeper neither of these issues may be a problem for you. Also the touching any button shuts off the alarm, so if you are a heavy sleeper there's a chance you will turn off the alarm instead of hitting snooze.I did like the different alarm sounds and my kiddo liked the various colors.

I find rhis alarm clock to be effective and reliable. I prefer my room totally dark at night so being able to turn off the clock led is perfect. The volume of the alarm is adjustable from 00 to 15. I use the bird song at column 4, but am always awake and out of bed before the alarm sounds.It works great and I’m happy that I spent less than $20. for a clock that wakes me slowly and without jarring sound.

I don't remember ever writing a complete negative review in the 15 years I've used Amazon. I ordered 2 of these clocks for my grandchildren. One didn't work at all - appeared to have been a previous return sold as new. Alarm & wake-up light didn't work on the other plus was very difficult to set. I don't know where the rave reviews came from - my recommendation is DO NOT PURCHASE this item.
