Not as bad as that!
Ok, let me start with a disclaimer. This is nowhere near as good as Argento's "Suspiria", "Deep Red", "Inferno", or the majority of his earlier works. But is it as bad as some of the reviews on Amazon are making out.I don't think so.Personally I actually quite enjoyed it. Yes it's true that there are plot holes big enough to drive a bus through but then you could say exactly the same about some of Argento's best work.Adrien Brody portrays a personable character with some seriously deep flaws and does a very good job of it.Some of the photography around the seedier parts of Rome are superb as is the decision to film large parts of the film at sun rise and sunset given the film a slightly yellow hue (Giallo in Italian means yellow) which I thought was clever. So whilst I agree that it's not Argento's greatest work it's by no means his worst either.

Knot what I was expecting.
Big thick ropes loosely tied within teeth distance, yeah that's how to let your victim escape. But does she? No. We expect a bit more realism in the new century.Over dramatic, over loud music. Signposting? Oh please!Looks good though.70's B-movie stuff.

A decent horror film. by a great director.
this is a decent giallo film from Dario argento, it's not horrible as many have said. It's just so average that you can forget that it was made by a real horror veteran. Who made some real classic films in his day. The cast is good in this one as well. The blu ray looks very good as you would expect this being a newer film. For some reason we didn't the blu ray in the u.s and that's insane as this director is very popular there. Giallos always had a strong market on the American grindhouse scene of the seventies , although 'deep red' and ;suspirira' were released to major theater chains back in the day as well.

I liked it
So many people bash this movie. No, it isn't anywhere near as good Argento's classics but I personally thought it was a good watch. It has a thin but easy to follow plot, good cast, makes use of some nice Italian locations & has some typically brutal gore.

Wooden
Tried this not cos of Director but I've been impressed with the main actresses choice of films and her acting particularly Venus in Fur (Polanski) So gave this shock horror a go. Largely a waste of time due to wooden acting by all parties and poor script and pedestrian plot. Only for fans of the Director and his genre

Dire - really dire
From such a collection of talented people; you wonder what went wrong? Ego`s or lack of budget?

Average latest offering from Argento
The basic story..A killer known as "Yellow" is stalking the streets of Turin kidnapping and then killing foreign women. He picks them up in his taxi and takes them back to his hideout and subjects them to torture and mutilation before killing and dumping their bodies. An obsessive homicide detective (Adrien Brody) is attempting to find the killer...We all know the great Dario Argento is well past his peak, but us fans still want to check out any new film he does even though you can never go in with your hopes high. This latest effort of course is no where near the quality of any of his best work, but it's still definitely worth a look. Sadly there is none of the stylish stalking sequences that Argento is so famous for and despite the title it doesn't have the twists and turns, red herrings etc you normally get in the genre. So what we have really is just a standard thriller that does contains some good moments at times but is also quite forgettable. Although more gory than "The Card Player" it's still restrained by Argento standards with only a few bloody moments. Argento's direction for the most part is unrecognisable with little flair although there are some good moments including a flashback sequence that was nicely shot. As hard as it tries to give Brody a back story i thought in general the characters were not too interesting and Emmanuelle Seigner seemed a bit too old for her role. In all this is not a bad film but don't expect too much or you will surely be disappointed. This DVD is a totally bare bones release with no extras at all.
