Steve Jackson Games Ogre Reinforcements Game

I received this expansion just the other day and I'm impressed! Just like my review with the 6th Edition game, every 2-D counter and 3-D model is fully colored and made of quality, heavy-duty chipboard. With these pieces, you can now have either side (the Combine [in red and black] and Paneuropean [in blue and white/grey] forces) be the attacker or defender: unlike in the base game, where they were set as the attacker and defender, respectively. The new city counters for the map and new units for both sides add a new layer of strategy to the game, and the new scenarios in the booklet keep the game fresh. All the pieces fit easily into the storage tray of the base game, though the Ogres require a little thought in their arrangement (I find laying the Mk.V's down on their side works well). Overall, this is an excellent expansion to the Ogre series and I can't wait for more!

Allows you more variation in your OGRE game; think G.E.V. counter set without the maps and terrain rules. If you have other maps that will fit (like, say, old BattleTech maps), you can get the G.E.V. rules (as part of the whole new edition rule book) off the OGRE website. For now (6/17) BoardGameGeek store is clearing out the last of their Kickstarter campaign special sets, which give you a terrain sheet and vehicle sheet for about $13 including shipping. Using a CityTech map from BattleTech, this set, and making the monster with the BGG set the Plutonium Dragon (level 20, OGRE MK. V is only level 18), makes for some serious urban carnage...

If you already own OGRE, then you need to stop what you are doing buy this and checkout to get it on the way to you. As typical for SJG it's quality is so high you will freak. Die cut very well, even the plastic packaging is 200% better than any other company's packaging!

I've been a fan of the OGRE/GEV games since the mid 80's. WIth the release of the 6th edition I was glad to see that there was more to come. The overlays are OK, don't know if I'll use them much, the additional counters are a must though. More scenarios, more OGREs, oh my!

This will really add a lot to your Ogre 6e game. Good quality components as always from SJG. It all fits into the original game box.
