I love these terrariums because they keep my plants organzied, I don't have to balance and straighten plants on the substrate anymore, plus using vertical space keeps my substrate area a bit more clear for my fish to hang out at the bottom of my tank. I drilled lots of holes so water flows in and out of these shelves, otherwise fish waste would just collect and stay in those dead spots, make sure to drill holes (don't be lazy). I also wouldn't recommend filling these with substrate, again it's just creating a dead spot and you will have to vacuum and then setup the entire thing again. Mine just have plants, and with the holes and my plecos squeezing in there to clean I haven't increased my tank maintenance time.

We old timers have been attempting to create caves, shelves, and territory breaks in fish tanks, hermit crab cages and reptile habitats with Tupperware, plastic bins, planter pots, etc for many years. This product is nice looking and allows multiple substrates in one enclosure. These shelves increase territories and decrease fighting in my stickleback tank, and would be great for cichlids. I bought the medium and small, and reversed the legs on them (small unit's legs on the medium units shelf) then stacked them to create 3 territories. I just ordered two more shelves to repeat this on the other side of the tank. Thank you for creating this product!

This product is amazing. Made from high quality material. Fast shipping. I'm using my eco level as a planting bed inside my tank. And my fish love to hide underneath it. I highly recommend.
