St. Simons Lighthouse discovery
My husband and I recently took a weekend trip to Amelia Island and spent our lunchtime on St. Simons. As I love to read historical novels from places I visit, I picked up Lighthouse...the sister novel to NMR at the lighthouse gift shop. The writing of Eugenia Price was like finding literary gold on Georgia’s Golden Isles. I’m currently reading the final installment of her three historical fiction pieces set there on “her” island and have read her memoir about her relocation from Chicago to St. Simons and the history she devoted her novel-writing to at that late stage of her life. The fact that she had, prior to these novels, only written non-fiction elevates the new-to-her genre through the vivid, thorough inclusion of period details. Her passion for the real families who settled and built the foundations there will always be part of the Island’s legacy and I’m more than grateful to have found this remarkable author from a generation gone but worth remembering.

Amazingly accurate
Eugenia Price has done an incredible amount of research to bring these historical people to life. I enjoyed all three books of her St Simons trilogy.

Quality Comes To Life
New Moon Rising is a continuation of Ms Price’s St Simon’s trilogy. Wonderfully written in such descriptive language that you feel yourself transported back into the times. I just had the privilege of visiting St Simon’s for the first time. Having read (twice) the trilogy, really enhanced my visit and the experience of this beautiful place. To have actually seen all the places mentioned in the books was surreal. I highly recommend these wonderful books and to visit St Simon’s will become a must!!

Real, heart felt...
Even with the veey irritating distractions of misused commas and awkward sentence structures, I enjoyed this book very much. War hurts everyone, everyone looses. One side is said to "win" but the cost is great. The Gould family is the main focus, their struggles, losses, heartbreaks, and joys. The issue of owning slaves is a heavy burden for the younger son of Mr. Gould who owns a plantation. The store mostly takes place on St. Simon's Island, GA, one of my favorite places. I recommend is historical story!!

I loved the second book of the St Simons Trilogy, with the continuing saga of the Gould family. Well written.
