Amazing book!
This is a really great and interesting book, i’ve learnt so much from this even just from reading the first few pages let alone the rest of it! It really focuses on how the brain works and why we behave the way we do to different things

fascinating and insightful book
I loved the clear explanations in this book. It’s easy to follow the conventional style of the two authors and narrators.Well laid out and hugely educational and thought-provoking.I have the audible and kindle versions along with the accompanying PDF.Took me a while to finish the audible version - mainly because it was so interesting I kept repeating chapters to let it sink in.I want to share this with so many people - it’s packed with wisdom.I switched between reading and listening. I’ll now go back and read it right through on kindle.Highly recommended 🙏🥰

I Find This Book To Be A Helpful Resource For Healing And Reparenting The Wounded Inner Child
By asking; What happened to the Inner Child?I find is enlightening in understanding many aspects of our current personality, mentality and world view.I love the explanation of the concept of evocative cues, those sensory inputs that activate traumatic memories and trigger complex behaviours, emotions and psychological responses. We can learn to pay attention and understand our evocative cues so we can keep ourselves regulated, grounded and centred in our own reality. It is important to give back to yourself and take care of yourself so you can bring the best version of yourself and become effective in your life endeavours. It is important to have a healthy degree of control in your environment and your experience of life to ensure moderate, predictable and controllable experiences that build your resilience and personal growth. If at all possible, eliminate and avoid all sources of toxicity and negativity in your life, that wear you down to functional vulnerability of your brain and body and lead to a cascade of risks in your emotional, social, mental, and physical health.Brilliant excerpt from the book.Until you heal the wounds of your past, you will continue to bleed. The wounds will bleed through and stain your life, through alcohol, through drugs, through sex, through overworking. We must understand and heal the wounds of the past before we can move forward. The book discusses the open possibilities of how one can heal and transmute experiences of adversity, challenges, disappointment, loss, relational betrayal, neglect, degradation, abuse and trauma, into personal empowerment, inner strength, post-traumatic growth and wisdom.I recommend the book.

A must read
Absolutely essential reading for anyone, especially for anyone with adversity childhood experiences who now struggle as an adult in relationship and with intimacy. The examples of the how the brain deals with trauma is simply brilliant and you don’t need a degree to get this. The relationship between Oprah and Bruce drew me in and explained why I needed to do all of the inner child work on myself. It’s not about blame it’s about understanding your origins and the source of ‘ What happened to you’ getting the history straight and healing the symptoms this produced.. anything that takes you to an adaptive self rather than your true authentic self. I am healed and I hope this encourages someone else to find the courage to look within. All too often we look to others to rescu us or heal us. The answer lies within you. Trust me. Thank you

Great introduction to trauma
This book was a great introduction to the complexities of trauma and its impact on people, it looks at ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) and how these can relate to both physical and mental health. The book explores in a non pathologising way how the experiences of people frowning up can effect their mental health and what may help address some of these challenges.
