Bittersweet indeed
This is one of the saddest stories of true love I have read. There was not a typical fairytale ending, but still fairy-tale like, the enslaved people's version. Heart break after heart break

Another great book by Edwin Page
Another great read by Edwin Page. Set during slavery days , even though it is fiction, it really pulls at the heart on how hard they had it. No rights whatsoever and not allowed to question anything nor have any type of opinion. The ending kinda leaves you melancholy and wishing for a hero to save the day. Can't wait to read other books by this author.

Heart Wrenching
This story was spellbinding. It is a fast read. The author bring the characters to life! Incredibly, heartwarming love story of two young, innocent slaves...and turn of events in their short lives.

Excellent reading
Excellent story. This is one of the books I will read more than once. I've recommended it to my friends also. I tend to read historical & documentary stuff so this was a bit of a reach for me and I'm so glad I reached for it. Great book

A little short. Wanted more substance to the relationship ...
A little short. Wanted more substance to the relationship between the main characters. Overall an authentic perspective on the American slave era, and a poignant ending with some surprising sadness to dwell upon

Weeping willow
There is not much else to say about this story. Powerful ,yet helpless are the characters and the story. I only wish it had been longer.

Short, but so sweet
Riveting, it's a love story, beautiful, yet so difficult to imagine their lives, their work & their miserable existance. The end is absolutely gripping.
