These cover up any mistakes you make cutting the boards on the bottom around the post they look awesome

The product looks nice, just what I needed; only problem is it’s just a bit too small to fit a 4x4. The problem isn’t the size (it is 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” which is the correct size for a 4x4), the problem is that the corners of the post base are rounded. In order for the post to fit through the hole, you either have to round the corners of the 4x4 or file the corners of the post base so that they’re square. I used my router to round the corners of the 4x4 and it fits fine.CORRECTION: It did not fit fine. I ended up having to use my belt sander to remove about 1/16” from each side to get the 4x4 to fit. Note: I was using a green (wet), pressure treated 4x4 for my project… maybe it would have fit if I had been able to use a dried 4x4 but Lowes didn’t have any???

Holds the posts very well. Downside is it comes with what appear to be drywall screws to attach them. Regardless of the screw quality, the screw heads aren't hidden in any way and they look horrible.

Worked great. Used it to create a standing drink rail. Had to shave and sand the post then use a mallet. Not difficult but time consuming.
