Fun romantic comedy, well worth watching!
This is another fun romantic comedy played by Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman, as well as a host of other super stars. We agreed that Jeff Goldblum probably gave the best acting job we have seen him do. But, the whole cast was wonderful, including young Thomas Robinson who played the son. The movie was actually super funny! It had lots of content, and surprisingly was not all that predictable considering the topic and title of the movie.I don't know where the nudity was that is referred in the content advisory. Maybe it was edited out, but I didn't notice any. While there was some alcohol use and some sort of "herbal" medication in the early part of the movie, it was only used within the context of the set up of the storyline The movie over all was very wholesome and fun. I only gave it 4 stars because I reserve the 5th star for movies that I feel are lifetime favorites. Over all, very good and somewhat thoughtful flick that leaves you feeling good!

Warm surprise
I'm a rom-com junkie who's mighty frustrated with the genre--how can most of these films be sub-par? doesn't that go against the rules of statistics?--and yet I must say I was pleasantly surprised by The Switch. It's a cut above the norm, mostly because of the relationship between father and son, which is warmly, sweetly, comedically and endearingly acted. This film is Hollywood; despite a strange lull after the "switch" which suggests the pacing might go indie, it returns to Hollywood momentum. Which is fine, but the editing is slightly off there. That said, the charm and comedy of the father and son really do make this movie. I'm not into the standard manipulation of cute faces and piping voices for ratings, but these two are really sweet magic together.Bateman's acting is touchingly understated when he's with the kid; the child (Thomas Robinson) is earnest and adorable and is so natural in his connection with his father. Aniston picks up credibility in a few of the intimate moments she has with Bateman--you feel her looking at him and being moved and wanting/wondering--but overall this really is a Bateman/Robinson movie.I don't dislike Aniston in general, but I absolutely didn't "feel" her the way I did the other two. The movie has the usual Hollywood stock characters for best friends; Jeff Goldblum is amusing in a slightly quieter way than usual. But it's Bateman and Robinson, as a duo and separately, that make the movie a four star in its genre--and that make you long for the Bateman/Aniston characters to live happily ever after.I rented it thinking it would be bad fluff. I watched it half-over again later that night, just to laugh and love a bit more with the father/son duo, and now I'm going to buy it for real. This isn't going to be the best romantic comedy you'll have ever watched (I hope), but it's not at all a bad way to spend a couple hours. :)

Enjoyable escape from reality!
Honestly, I wasnt sure about this movie, but they make a great team, and play off of each other really well. I won't ruin the movie for you, but there are some hilarious moments, some cringy ones, and some down right lovable moments! It was a great movie to just chill and enjoy!

A fun chick Flick
This movie is not the best movie that's ever been made. I want to say that up front. However, it is funny and very engaging. There were many times I had to laugh out loud during this movie.Initially, when I saw the commercials for this movie, I just thought it was going to be a dumb chick flick, but I thought it might have a few laughs so I rented it. I actually really love this movie. It surprised me and didn't go quite the way I expected it would from the previews. This is a chick flick, but it's also got its touching moments. I thought all of the characters were hilarious and I really enjoyed the interaction between Jason Bateman's character and his "son." The kid they got to play the son is hilarious and a very good actor. I didn't find him annoying like you find so many child characters in chick flicks. I ended up buying this movie and I've watched it again and again, laughing every time.Downsides to this movie: Some people won't think it's that groundbreaking. It's not. Some of it is cliched and expected, but it is a unique story idea and I felt the dynamics of the characters were pleasantly unconventional. The truth is I really enjoy this movie and I have trouble finding things wrong with it. However, my brother (who's 28) said he wasn't very interested at the beginning (though he missed a large portion of it) and said it was nothing to ride home about. Which brings me back to - this is a CHICK FLICK. If you don't like chick flicks, don't watch this movie!

Plenty of `Rom,' not so much `Com.'
Even though I'm a guy, I'm not immune to the odd romantic comedy - if it's got something decent to offer.Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman are both likeable leads who have a decent pedigree of humorous films on their C.V.s, so I thought, `Why not?'Yes, they're good and yes, they have reasonable charisma throughout the film and yes at the end of the ninety minutes you do feel reasonably warm and fuzzy inside. The only thing I found was that there weren't that many laughs along the way. There was a fair amount of romance and some character development, plus adequate dilemmas for them to strive through - I just thought that it would be funnier. Maybe it's my sense of humour, but I just didn't find it funny. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it. The best character bond was actually between Jason Bateman and the young boy `Sebastian' - the element that made the film worth watching.A worthwhile way to kill an hour and a half - not so much a `Rom Com' as a `Rom Drama' in my opinion.

A really enjoyable watch
I bought this exepcting your average rom com however found it to be better than average. Whilst it did roughly follow the classic storyline it did have a new angle on the theme and the performances from the main characters where good.
