I wish I had this sooner!
This is such a great solution. I heard about this book from my all time favorite HR book: The Little Black Book if HR Management. This is the perfect solution for the company I work for. Great and practical advice. I'm so sick of these lofty HR pipe dreams of weekly progress 1:1s and perfect progressive discipline...thats just not real life. HR sometimes forgets operations. Overall great book.

Doesnt end
I think this book is a good concept and some should be implemented in all business, however the book tends to drag on. The book is build around 4 main principles and could realisticly be 1/3 as short. Good book I would buy again.

Good Read
Even if you are not implementing the complete "DWP" system, this book still has a ton of good information for any supervisor. Lots of solid strategies for meeting with employees and getting them to change their poor performance or behavior. Don't be fooled by the title; this is not promoting a consequence-free work environment, but merely a different way of looking at problems employees with the idea of changing their future behavior instead of simply continually punishing them for things they keep doing. Employees either change or are no longer employed by the department. Highly recommend this book.

I bought this during contract negotiations with my union because the management team presented it right out of the gate. The philosophy is interesting but realistically difficult to implement. Management has struggled to make it work since it has been introduced. It most likely was not intended for a union environment.

As an HR Manager for my company, I not only read the book but insisted that it be read by our company president and other management team. We are in the process of implementing this system as our own in dealing with discipline company wide. As the president described in two words, "organization changing".

not a book- a management tool
This "common sense" approach to handling performance problems in the work place has been incredibly useful, and the fact that the book comes with work sheets and objection management ideas is extra helpful.Thank you, Dick Grote
