I bought this tape measure for myself because I got sick and tired of waiting for my husband to fix things around the house. I feel like I was constantly nagging him and constantly having to work around his excuses for not fixing things. I finally decided what's wrong with me fixing them myself? And so that's what I've been doing. I've made myself a nice little tool kit and I've gotten pretty darn good at home repairs, if I do say so myself.This tape measure is a really nice one. I'm real happy that I chose this one. First off, as soon as I held it I could tell that it's made with some high-quality materials. This is not Dollar Store junk. No. This is just as well made as any that you could buy at a big-name construction supply store like Lowe's or Home Depot.It shows the measurements in both inches and meters. The tape that slides out easily for any project. There appears to be a metal magnet at the end which I haven't tried yet. There's a nice clip on the side that I hook onto my pocket. It does not fall off no matter how many times I stand in squat.The one bit of constructive criticism I would use for the designers of this tape measure is that it was little difficult to push the release button the first few times that I used this. I had to really press it to make it retract. But after those first few times, the difficulty eased up and now it retracts quickly and easily.All in all I am more than happy with the quality of this tape measure for the modest price I paid for it. Definitely giving this five entire Stars.

Updated review that was originally 2 stars as this tape measure did not retract after I extended it out to about 6 feet (the lock button was not the least bit down). Rather than bother with sending it back, I decided to tinker with it. Pulling the tape out farther just resulted in it being stuck out farther. I took out the screws and pulled it apart to see that the tape wound was not tight and therefor this "bubble" was causing a jam. I probably could have just pulled the tape all the way out to then let it tightly wind back up, without having to take it apart but I was afraid I'd end up with 25 feet of tape hanging out while trying to return the item. It works now but I have to knock a star off for the hassle.Otherwise...Big, readable numbers. Handy lanyard. Durable feel and nice rubber grip.

Smallish, light duty tape. This is not a serious shop tape. Feels more like a toy, like one you'd buy at CVS or Walgreens. With that in mind, it's okay for small jobs.

Tape was warped when I initially received it. Unfortunately, I didn't bother returning it at the time.A warped tape makes it so that you cannot extend the tape any distance without it twisting and folding. Hence you can't extend that tape to a wall without you or someone physically having to hold the end of the tape. Warping starts within 4 inches.

You get what you pay for her. Since you don't pay much, you don't get a lot of quality here. Metric is nice, but that is about it. The thing is more flimsy than I'd prefer and the magnet tip hardly sticks to anything. Garbage if you ask me.

Overall I give this tape measure five stars. Here's why.* PLUS: Bright orange color is easy to find, without being neon psychedelic.* PLUS: Inches AND centimeters. I work mostly with inches but when you need centimeters you shouldn't need to search for that one tool.* PLUS: The tape feeds out easily and retracts strongly.* PLUS: The lock works well to prevent retraction, and releases easily when I want it to.* PLUS: Pretty good armor for inevitable falls.* NEUTRAL: The numbers are a decent size but I wish they were a little bolder to make them even more visible.* MINUS: Does not easily stand on its own.* PLUS: The overall size is appropriate to the length of the tape.* PLUS: Fair price.I hope this is helpful for someone.

This sounds weird but I have kinda always dreaded retractable measuring tape because it always seemed like an accident waiting to happen once you release to pull it all back in. This one is great! You can control the speed of the retraction by sliding the the release button to a speed that is comfortable for you. Or, if you're a worrywart like me, you can keep it locked, and feed it it because the lock position only stops it from moving if you don't force it back. That also made it easy when we were taking some measurements because if we needed to take off an inch or so, we didn't need to completely release it.The grip on this is also very good! I am accident prone but I have been able to keep it grasped when in use and I wear it like a bracelet on my wrist when not in use. I don't know how well this would hold up on a tool belt, but for me, it was lighter than I expected and very functional. I love it!

+ the tape is long, strong, has metric and inches system- the metric measurement are on the wrong side of the tape for a right-handed person like me.- Not always easy to close
