Pro - Screen Time Manager for TV, Internet, Video Games and Mobile.

I have been using this token timer for 1.5 years now and have both the basic and pro versions. I have one for each TV and one for the shared family computer monitor. I initially purchased it to limit the amount of screen time my kids were experiencing and was more than delighted to discover all bickering about whose turn it was instantly stopped. We have extended the system to include phone screen time by installing the "Screen Time" app and issuing rewards of 35 minutes for each token they hand us. Yes it is a timed extension cord with simple tokens that even a 4 year old can understand and work with their brother/sister. This product works as advertised and has helped me control my 11-year old's screen time. I've tied his screen time to work completion and behavior at school, so his teachers send home "coupons" that he trades for tokens. I got one unit that did not work, but sent it back to Amazon and the replacement works fine. The tamper-proof tape is not a great way to control "cheating," and I feel like for this price, the add-on cord lock should be included. The ability to set the time increment per token works great. I still wish there was a way for my child to pause the timer to save his time for later without requiring the key. I think the intent is that turning off the plugged-in device should pause the timer (maybe?) but that doesn't work in my setup. You can insert the key to pause the timer, but I don't want my child to have access to the token reservoir, and I'd like him to be able to pause it without my help. Overall, a worthwhile product that has removed the power struggle from this area, improved school participation and reduced screen time overall in lieu of other activities.

While some may be disheartened by the lack of an included power cord lock, I find that after setting up the house rules for use of this device my children found out that unplugging it or using other coins only decreases their amount of screen time. I love this product and it is something I recommend to all parents I know. This is such a simple solution and assists parents in positive reinforcement of good behavior. I will be purchasing a second one for our home WiFi box so we can resolve the issue with wireless devices as well.

Easy to use, just plug and go. Time is adjustable. Lock-box keeps the clever kids from bypassing the unit. The best part is the actual "token" as we use them as a reward for doing extra chores or when homework is finished. The kids can save their tokens and use them all on Saturday, or use them as they get them. It helps teach them how they can be rewarded for going above and beyond, or meeting whatever expectations we have for home/school work.

Great way to disconnect time from electronics while also earning time. I purchased this time for gaming and the standard timer for TV. I can now place a token in the timer and be able to view how much time is left. Great tool for limiting time playing games or having a timed competition in a game.

Seriously, all my teen would have to do is unplug the electronics from this device. This might be good for a non tech savy 5 year old.Before you buy check out how it connects to the wall and electronics. You might as well use a honesty jar with poker chips.

Pretty cool device, works well. I suspect it goes to the default 20 minutes per token when power goes out. My intention was to have it on 10 minute intervals. In theory if this is true a kid could unplug it then replug and double their reward. I have not confirmed, but power went out after I had set it, and had to reset it. Also my 10 year old picked the lock with a paper clip and recycled his coins. The plug system is merely tamper proof tape. I used 1 1/2 inch pvc plugs and fittings to make male to female cord more permanant. Also every unit is keyed different and I recieved a unit with the wrong keys the first time. In all I really like it, and my kid hates it. I wish they would fix the security problems.

Excellent product! The kids used to argue when I told them it was time to turn the TV off. Now, the power goes off and there is no argument or complaining from them. They know the rules and know what they need to do to earn more tokens. They also do not argue about the daily TV time limit anymore. Once the time is up, it's up.
