Contents of the book itself are great, completely what has come to be expected of Steam Forged Games products. Shipping is another matter; book was sent in a far too large box with insufficient padding and as such corners are crumpled and damaged.

Not bad - but pre-release editing abound
The DS-RPG is a very nice book, good artwork throughout (though some seems possibly rather too dark?) and a streamlining of the D&D5e rules (very much needed in my opinion - not a 5e fan to be honest). Very much liking the initiative system and the death system - roll Wis save vs DC18 or suffer an effect when respawning (random roll on a table of 20 options (p.121 for those who have the book))... includes such fun things as penalties and bonuses with fascinating descriptions as to why:"It's Getting Dark. The world is darker that it was. Reduce your passive Perception total by -1."I should also state here that I'm awful at the computer games - beat the asylum demon only once and that was with unbelievable luck... Just don't have the mind set for the computer games. However I love the lore and the storytelling! This seems to be the pre-release version though - officially it's not released until 5th May (or so I've found out in my explorations). there are a few 'janky' editing bits to tidy up... for example:P.28 - The Brute origin - it states under Position at Higher levels 1d10 (or 6) + your constitution modifier per PALADIN level after firstAlso for all the classes there is the following under proficiencies Armor: All swords and shields, as long as prerequesites met - should perhaps be All ARMOR and shields... etc as there is a separate weapons proficiencies part below the armor section. Also there are a few classes that have no options when hitting levels 6, 11, 15, 18 - which could be a little off putting for some players. As I said - a little Janky with the editing...This doesn't mean the game is broken - it just means that it could do with a bit of a rethink or tidy up perhaps. This from a brief read through of the first few chapters...I am, however, very much looking forward to giving it a run as GM - and so are my players who also love the games. So 3.5 to 4 stars from me... A worthy addition to anyone who loves a bit of dark, dark fantasy.
