The fragrance of this product is very light and refreshing. My daughter is a child of mixed ethnic heritage and she loves the Design Essential Natural products. She loves her curly natural that this product allows. She is so over the heat treatments and chemicals and other products that damage the hair and scalp. I cannot know how it will perform on all hair, but we are happy with the product and are confident enough in it to recommend that you try it. Yes, you can use it as a leave in conditioner.
