As usual Rii get a product ninety percent right. Then drop the ball.......again!
I love Rii products. They are always well made and last for years. But! I really feel like the company slogan should read 'Rii - we always get things 90% right, then give up'. In the case of this RT518S keyboard, I have once again had to make compromises, and it is so! frustrating. So, once again, here we go, with one of my 'Why Rii ?' reviews:1. Rii, you have gone to all the trouble of beautifully backlighting 99.9% of the keyboard keys, so why! have you left the media keys at the top-left and the touchpad scroll area unlit and pitch-black at night?2. Why have you placed a physical left-mouse button in the perfect location on the keyboard, but not included a small tactile wall to the right, followed by a physical right-mouse button? Yes, I know I can enter the windows context menus by tapping two fingers on the touchpad, but it just adds another level of complexity to context menus, when you were already adding a mouse button anyway?3. Why have you dealt with scrolling via a poor-mans finger area on the touchpad, when you already have the much better physical scrolling wheel that you use to perfection on the mini i4 keyboard?4. Why does the backlighting turn off so quickly, and need a press of the dedicated backlighting button to turn it back on? Why can I not override the backlighting timer, to tell the keyboard to just stay illuminated while I take a sip of tea? And why does the backlighting activation button not at least remain illuminated once the ridiculously short backlight timer has turned off the lovely key-lights. Because once the lights turn off, you are just left with a black rectangle across your knees and need to try and use Jedi mind skills to remember which button turns the damn lights back on.Honestly Rii, you do this every! time. You are well on your way to creating perfection, then go for lunch and forget what you were doing when you come back in the afternoon. I use the RT518S Bluetooth Keyboard to manage a Home Theatre PC, including all the software and multiple library hard drives, and it would be so! much easier if you would just increase the price and add the last few features and options that users like me need. My home cinema set up plays via a rear projector, so I use the keyboard in a dark room when performing the system housekeeping. I don't care if I have to recharge the keyboard every night, if it means I can have the backlighting on constantly. As for the plus points. All the good build quality is present as usual. The pre-wired charging plug is a neat and welcome charging solution, which keeps the sides of the keyboard usb socket-free, and the dual wireless options are very handy. I have also been very impressed with how quickly the Bluetooth connects. I would love Rii to make a proper case for the RT518S. But as they do not, I bought the case for a Logitech K400 Plus instead. Which is slightly too large for the Rii, but close enough. So, as usual Rii, you get a 9 out of 10, please try harder rating.

It works as intended
Could do with a kickstand to change its angle. Backspace and enter button are abit small but usable if you’re just using it to control the tv and get to websites etc

Multimedia PC keyboard/touchpad
Used for a small form factor pc which I connect to my TV. Perfect for browsing and streaming services etc. If it's on offer, it's definitely a good buy.

It's a great cheap wireless touch keyboard - until it failed after 3 weeks..
This is an update to my earlier review. After just over three weeks this keyboard started displaying problems. Firstly the touchpad would sometimes ignore input (also the touchpad surface started showed significant wear), then key presses started getting lost, rapidly followed by very strange effects, for example pressing 'N' would cause the page to refresh. Other keys would only show and start repeating after being held down for several seconds. I really did like this keyboard but I can no longer recommend it.(Original review follows)I prefer this to my Logitec K400 and this is less than half the price. The backlight works really well and if you press FN and Backlight together the backlight stays on rather than switching off after a few seconds. The keys are small with a large space around each one which I was surprised to find worked very well and I had far fewer mistypes than I expected. The touch pad is reasonably accurate and unlike some cheap wireless keyboard supports multitouch. The raised scrolling section on the right of the touchpad is very useful. Having both WiFi and Bluetooth connections means this can be connected to a vast range of devices. It's rechargeable with a short cable built in, there's an extension cable for this in the box. The only minor negative is that it would have been nice to have backlight for the media controls and touchpad.I looked at a lot of keyboards before buying this. For under 20ukp this is a great portable keyboard with a useful feature set. It does everything I want for a media/gaming PC. 9.5/10

the light button is too close to arrow keys. it goes to sleep after like a minute and cursor won't work unless turned off and on, otherwise it's convenient
