Just make sure you have something soft placed beneath incase you drop a wet stone.

This tool does take some trial and error to figure out. There are plenty of reviews with tips and I suggest you read them. Once you figure out the angles it does a great job. Only knock on the tool itself is that the clamp will scratch your blade. The covers/clips that come with it are useless so I recommend covering your steel with painters tape.The stones are very cheap and wear down quickly. I purchased some $30 “diamond” stones that are designed to fit this and it made my life much easier. All in all, it’s a great way to sharpen a blade for those not comfortable doing hand sharpening with traditional wet stones.

The mechanical aspect is excellent. The stones that come with the system are subpar at best. I've used the system on three knives and at least one stone is over half way worn through. This affects the quality of the edge and affects the repeatability of the process. I've made contact with the distributor and that is as far as it went. There haven't been any attempts at rectifying the situation. I'm not the first to complain about the quality of the stones. This system also requires an angle finder. If it was a complete system this would be included and not have to be purchased extra.

Awkward to use, not very user friendly.

The product was extremely well and easy to use and set up although this one and this exact one did not come with the finer grit honing stones though that could be my fault that I did not pay attention to them I just made an exterior order for much more finer stones and used the finer stones I already had at the house to finish holding the knife that I used it on I will continue using this because it puts a really nice bevel on the blades when you use it especially if they’ve been told our frapted a little too much

Using the knife sharpening for the second time... pulled to rotate the knife, the spring popped out and cannot find the broken or missing piece except the small screw, which cannot be installed without the "missing" piece that flew away! What a piece of junk that I spent $49 + tax and only get to use successfully once!

Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2022There is a screw on the back of the holder with a spring. When you pull on the holder to rotate it, the screw may come loose in the holder an come off. You’re pulling really hard you can jab or yourself. The rod to the stone holder comes loose too.
