Review of Streamlight for Fire Helmets
Ordered two of these firefighter lights that mount on helmets. Our grandsons are volunteer firefighters. They are durable, dependable and the light is really bright.

Tough, light, very handy, clip a bit tricky sometimes
Update: 1/2024Still going strong. Been through fires and training many times. Battery life has not been a problem and they charge fairly quick. Still sturdy and the helmet clip still works great.***Only issue I noticed is that the light may flicker a bit when first turing it on after not being used for a week or so. What corrects that is bending lights head back and forth. Im assuming the elecrical contacts run through the hinge so moving it keeps it clean.‐---------So far so good. It is light and sturdy. Have not had any issues with accidentally turning it on. Can be tricky to get the light clipped back into the helmet mount with a gloved hand. Practicing with it more will help. So handy to be able to quickly detach it to use in small or awkward spaces. No issues with battery life. Nice and bright.

Great helmet light!
Great product with a handy blue light in the back for smoke filled houses! The adjustability allows it to work great for older style-full visor helmets as well. Rather than others that cause it to shine into your visor and take away visibility! VERY BRIGHT TOO! The ability to simply slide the light on and off is great for having to grab an extra light on rescue calls and for quick reactions that may be needed for grabbing someone's attention fast! Such as a driver about to run over live power lines!😂😁🇺🇸

Great light
Have it on my fire helmet. Works great. Can turn it on easily with my gloves.

Great positionability on fire helmet - all around great light
I didn't want a flashlight that hung off the front of my turnout coat. This light mounted easily to my helmet with the provided tool, and stays fixed even with rough abuse and throwing my helmet around. The light allows great positioning of the beam where I want it, and doesn't make the helmet feel wider or more cumbersome. I don't even notice it's there, and it's easy to reach up and flick it on when I need it - even with my gloves on. Well designed, and I'd definitely purchase again. I haven't gone through the first set of batteries yet, but so far, the batteries it came with are still running strong.

Buying my 3rd one after 4, maybe 5 years
Pros-•Button is easy to find and operate with firefighting gloves•It can be angled!!! This is exactly why I bought it. I do not want to be the guy that blinds people on scenes talking to them. I keep it at a slight downward angle. Also helps get around the bourkes if you have them.•Takes CR123A or 18650s (18650s provide more life, while CR123As offer more light. I run rechargeable CR123As because of the slight bump in voltage/brightness)•Blue light helps your crew know where you are.•Affordable! These have come down in price over the years, and $80-$90 isn't bad if I get good use out of it.Cons-•It can be very hard to clip the light back into the mount with gloves on. I had a FoxFury that was like an inch in diameter, and I'd be on the money everytime. This is like trying to put a pen clip into a slot, and 99/100 times I end up putting it in my pocket to reseat after the fire, or I take my helmet off if I'm on a car accident or something.•The metal clip that holds the flashlight to the bracket breaks everytime. The first one I was able to superglue/jb weld and it held for a few months. The 2nd one I never found. I just noticed it was gone. This next one I will see if I can jbweld on top of the ring BEFORE it breaks. I would not trust it in a wire maze.•Clip for using it as a chest light is pretty thin. Would probably be a better radio strap light than a chest light.•I wear lights under the brim, and the down side with that is the light is usually kicked out vs tucked above the brim and out of the way like smaller lights are. I have to wear this on my nondominant side so I don't have to tilt my head to the side when I high shoulder ladders (which I prefer to do).

Excellent, but not perfect
Great alternative to the regular vantage helmet lights. The ability to angle the light out of people's eyes is handy, the ability to remove the light from the mount is also very handy. However, it's size and general shape make it difficult to mount to my helmet in a manor that makes the light both effective. And out of the way of my helmet strap.Where is at right now, I have a slightly difficult time with my startup which does impede my ability to mask up quickly. Maybe I just need to train more, but I know I would be able to mask up faster if I didn't have to bother worrying about if the strap is tangled in the light.

Bright and clear, but actually very fragile.
Update: the top cap that holds the clip in place broke after only 3 months. Very disappointing. It appears to have barely held in place to begin with. I cannot recommend this light. It is actually very fragile.Nice clear light with hi/lo beam, tail light is very handy. The one touch helmet clip release is nice. Wish the bottom was easier to find with firefighting gloves. Rechargeable would be great.
