Water Softening Resin Softener Media 100% Ion Exchange Replacement - 1 CuFt Bag

Bought this resin from American Water Solutions. It was shipped fast and packaged well. Ordered a funnel from them as well. Once the new resin was in the tank we ran the softener through a cycle. It's as good as having a new softener now. Our water flowrate had been way down, but now we have good water pressure again. It's been a couple weeks now. No yellowness as someone complained, and water is soft.

The package came as shown but was 1 cubic foot instead of 25L which was better. I did also buy the large funnel for $9 that made the job easier. This seemed to be the best price I could find that had good reviews. Seems like good quality resin. Will need to wait and see but I think it will work fine. This saved me from replacing may softener. I would recommend.

We don't drink the soft water. Changed the plumbing so all cold water at sinks and toilets by-passes softener. The resin is doing a great job. Water nice and soft for every thing else.

My only complaint is the bag broke open in the box it was shipped in. The product works fine.

I will admit my softener is relatively old. I was questioning whether to toss it or rebuild it. By the time I bought the resins, gaskets, etc., I was likely somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a new unit of similar quality, but decided to take my chances. This resin changed the water back to a much softer water than I recall having when the softener was brand new. As long as the unit holds up mechanically for at least another 5 years, I will consider the expense of rebuilding my old GE Smart Water a good investment. Changing the resin can be a messy task, so plan your strategy in advance, as you don’t want to get any in the brine tank or any other orifice that will create later problems. I highly recommend this resin to those that do their research on how to do it and have the tools. If one has to hire someone to replace their resin and rebuild their softener, they would likely be money ahead to simply put in a brand new unit.

My water softener had, for all intents and purposes, quit working. I looked into replacing it, but they are so expensive, and this was a nicer brand. I thought that I would try to change the resin myself rather than paying a guy a couple hundred bucks to do it. By far, the hardest thing is getting the top off, but once you do that, the process is fairly straightforward, but time-consuming. I highly recommend a resin funnel which will save you tons of time since the opening to the water softener itself is tiny and largely blocked by a tube. After changing the resin, my water seems softer. I no longer get black water discharges after the system recharges itself, so I can only assume it is working.

The product works excellent. But the bag was ripped inside the box and the product spilled all over inside, not sure if any was lost but it makes me wonder. Would have preferred to get a bag that wasn't ripped.

I bought this as a mid-level resin to replace the original in my 2004 softener that was rebuilt. I liked that this was not a generic product like some of the cheaper ones available that may or may not be good. Even after rebuilding the valve and verifying it was working as it should the water was still 25gpg hardness. (I also highly recommend the Hach test strips.) After replacing the resin and running a regeneration the water was coming out around 1.5gpg. I recently regenerated again and may be getting closer to 0gpg which seems to take a while from what articles I've seen online. I skipped the $10 plastic funnel and made one from some taped up cardboard and scooped the resin into the tank with an old plastic cup which worked fine. The bag has some type of pour spout but I ended up just cutting it open to reduce the chance of a bad spill. So far so good!
