Save your money and buy a mic from a more reputable manufacturer
Where to start? Half the functionality didn’t work out of the box. The half that did work sounded okay, not great. I’ve had better vocal sounds out of condenser mics that cost $200-300 than I did with this $3k+ monstrosity. The design looked good in the photos, but build quality is sub-par at best. The jacks, knobs, and knobs felt cheap. The tube visible through the window in the front is a cool gimmick, but since it generates little to no heat, my guess is the plate voltage is so low that it’s basically just there for show. I really wanted to like this mic and I was very disappointed. This one is going straight back.

Incredibly versatile mic
It’s expensive but honestly so worth it. I’ve been recording with the 1040 for about 8 months and you can dial in so many sounds between the tube modes and the fet circuit. No other mic offers this kind of flexibility. Build quality is solid—power supply is crazy heavy. Maybe overbuilt haha. But super great that you can detach and use to remotely control settings.

A premium microphone for professionals
This microphone offers fantastic versatility. While the price tag might seem high, compare that to other classic mics from legacy manufacturers at similar prices and the LCT 1040 comes out on top. The different tube and FET settings help this microphone adapt to any source you throw at it. It's really the best value high-end microphone for the money, no matter what you're recording.

Amazing sound capability
The possibilities of blending FET and tube together are endless. This is the most versatile mic I’ve ever owned.

If you’re a StarTrek Fanatic and love sonic perfection you will love this masterpiece!
I had the Lewitt LCT-940 for one day and only one recording and I was so smitten by the experience I immediately called Mike at Alto Music and ordered a pair of these LCT-1040s. This was not just for sound quality improvements, but for the versatility that this one microphone allows you to do anything you desire to capture any vocal or instrument with the added convenience of the remote control which is the most massive and well made remote I’ve even owned. It’s probably the Trekkie in me, but pushing the simple release mechanism and separating the remote from the base gave me goosebumps and nerd nirvana. Here’s my initial response to Mike at Alto Music:I'd like to say when I found out the remote control "saucer section in StarTrek" ie the Top of microphone separate base station with controls) separates from the base that the nerdy "StarTrek Next Generation" fanatic in me said buy it, buy two, but when you press this simple release button and you do it for the first time it's better than sex. This is the heaviest and most perfectly machined remote control I've ever held in my hands and I've owned some rather elaborate machined remotes as an audiophile, but this gentleman, is the King 👑 of Kings of them all.The LCT-940 was already crushing my heart sonically on the first recording it sounded so damn good, I can't imagine what this will sound like in comparison, but it's a work of masterful machining and beautiful art. I'm blown away.Ribbons used to be my weakness, but this has changed what I think is the best thing I've ever experienced. Thank you very much!Fin,I’ll update with my thoughts sonically when the 2nd unit arrives and I do my first recording. Maybe I’ll post a video or pictures as well. Hat’s off to Lewitt this is going to be a great selling microphone against the Neuman at $7500
