Clean your old systems quick and easy
Great product to clean your system and easy to use. I purchased an old system that was pretty dirty inside and out. I saw that this console cleaner removed a lot of dirt and grime from the cartridge slot. Now everything is clean and works great!

Effective But Cheaply Made
As any gaming enthusiast who might be trying to keep their games in pristine condition, I bought this expecting the best. What I got was almost there. Sure, it did clean out the main port (it doesn't clean out the side ports of a Super Nintendo that some games use) but the biggest issue is cleaning and maintaining the device. For whatever ungodly reason, they thought it would be a bright idea to use PLASTIC gamebit washers to hold the cartridge together. I'm sure you might be wondering why this is a problem. Well, if you want to keep your console cleaner for any extensive amount of time, you'll probably have to clean it after use. They recommend using water (though I'd suggest using something else as well like a paper towel to wipe down the excess debris).Well, if you're going to wash this with water, expect a cartridge filled to the gills with water. shake it and rattle it like one of those old bathtub Sonic toys you used to get and you'll soon find out that it makes for a poor cleaning tip. So, in an attempt to alleviate this issue, I tried to unscrew it. Only to find out the creators of this device decided to skimp out on any form of metal screws for this $20 console cleaning cartridge. Yep. It's entirely 100% plastic (probably costs about $0.25 to make in total instead of the $0.40 it would cost if it had two metal screws). Because of this, you cannot unscrew this and clean it internally. It's basically impossible.Any gamebit driver you have will strip this and you can just enjoy your waterlogged (practically disposable) 20 dollar console cleaner. Does it work? Yes. Is it of high quality? The cleaning component is. The cartridge and screws aren't. Attached are a photo of the actual "gamebit" screw which is non-functional and I guess just for show. You can use this but don't expect much longevity out of it.

Great Follow Up on The Origional
I ordered the Original NES Console Cleaner back in February and I am as happy with this SNES Cleaner as I was with the NES Cleaner.Pro's:1) The SNES Console Cleaner does a great job of removing the buildup on the contacts of my system.2) I really like this cleaner as opposed to the original NES cleaner because instead of tiny screws holding the whole thing together it uses a couple clips, which makes it really easy to pop open to clean up the board and/or replace if that ever needs to happen.Con's:1) The board inside the SNES Console Cleaner does not include the extra side nibs that some SNES games have extra contacts on, but neither does the cartridge it comes in.Overall Thoughts:I'm giving this 5 stars because right out of the box I was able to place it in my SNES, pull it out, (rinse, repeat) and I was done. On top of that, it was easy to clean and it fits in with the rest of my collection. On the topic of the side nibs, I don't really see this as to much of an issue, as I've very rarely seen games that use the extra contacts and for the majority of my collection, will not be an issue.

Only cleans center pins, plastic game bits easily strip.
The cleaner only gets the center pins. The pins on either side are ignored. The case is held together with plastic game bits which are very hard to unscrew without stripping them.

Seems to be good quality but did not work for me.
Did not work for me.

Simple and effective
These are pretty easy to use. Just put a few drops of cleaning solution (sold separately) on the "wet" side, and rub back and forth on the contacts. Follow that with the "dry" side, and you have clean contacts. The solution is essentially 90% isopropyl alcohol, so skip the mark up and buy from the drug store.

Does not clean all the pins
Over all it is a fine device to clean the most commonly used the pins but a full description would have been nice and a little more explanation on caring for the system, AND the cleaning device itself, would be much more appreciated than 1 Up advertising more products. I'm sending mine back because this product does not clean the extra 8 pins which were used by a handful of games such as Street Fighter Alpha 2 when more powerful chips where being used (they can be seen in the pic I added.) Also the product talks about not using old products to clean your system with yet the old ones I own, use exactly the same materials to clean the pins and my 20 to 30 year old cleaning cartridges (with the same pink cleaning pads) works just as well as 1 Up's brand new product.

Works great
This works great. I bought an old SNES off of eBay for $20. While the unit had power, no games would play. After using the cleaner, the unit boots up the first time, every time and all of the games play perfectly. Highly recommend.
