This kind of thriller is a dime a dozen in Hollywood, but Copycat manages to rise a little above the standard. I credit this to having a cool premise, with a killer replicating infamous serial killers and also to the cast, which is deep and stacked with talent. The narrative is good and avoids the cliche of only revealing the killer at the end, instead focusing on the motivations behind the murders. I wouldn’t call the story original or unpredictable, but it does what it needs to and the narrative unfolds in a brisk, entertaining fashion. The cast is pretty loaded too, with Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter in the lead roles. Weaver is good as the neurotic Helen, while Hunter’s all business Monahan balances that out. But while the entire cast is pretty rock solid, it is crooner Harry Connick, Jr. who steals this show. His creepy, backwoods serial killer is memorable and a highlight of Copycat. Great thriller with amazing cast

A long-time favorite movie of ours. Even though we have seen it many times, we are on the edge of our seats every time. Strong female leads with Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter.

I was so anxious to receive a DVD copy of this! I have been replacing my old video tapes lately and when I saw Amazon had a copy of one of my all-time favorite thrillers, I just had to order it. The movie is very edge-of-your-seat, white-knuckled suspenseful! Of course, with a cast of Holly Hunter and Sigourney Weaver in it, it is a quality story-line too. It even has Harry Connick, Jr. in one of his first acting roles and he does a great job! I highly recommend this for all you thriller fans!

I really like this movie I just think it was miscast. Holly hunter shouldn't have been in this film. It doesnt work. Everyone else...wonderful. Also arrived in the rain and had a rain bag on it. Very happy with product and shipping.

Somehow I had mislaid my old dvd copy of this film and needed to buy it again. That said, this is an original film, where Dr Helen Hudson (Sigourney Weaver) is a lecturer on Criminal Psychology who is targeted by a murderer played by Harry Connick Jr (of all people). After this scare and his incarceration, her character has become a recluse, hidden away in her home and still extremely traumatised by her near death. When a new serial killer starts murdering young women, a policewoman M.J Monaghan (Holly Hunter) and her partner (Dermut Mulroney) need the help of Dr Hudson to find this killer. The title Copycat comes from the killer copying crimes of famous serial killers like, Albert De Salvo, The Hillside Stranglers and Ted Bundy. If you managed to miss this film back in the 90's, it's one of Holly Hunter's best films, while Sigourney Weaver had been in many classic/even better movies, such as Aliens, Avatar and Gorillas In The Mist. Will Patton and the late J.E Freeman also pop up in this movie as Monaghan's ex-husband/fellow cop and Lieutenant Quinn. As with a lot of dvd films from the early 90's, the picture is only a bit better than you would get on video, but it's still a must see and you can pick it up quite cheaply on amazon.

I had a dull moment bought this its region 1 wont play on my dvd , why sell these if they are the wrong region ?

Did not work on our DVD. Would not deal with them again.

Probably my own fault for not checking but it wasn't a UK REGION dvd and is therefore unwatchable.
