MOODY BLUES "LIVE" - THEY NEVER AGE!!
Since the mid-60's the four members of the Moody Blues (originally "5" which had included keyboardist Mike Pinder who decided to drop out from the group in 1978), Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Ray Thomas (who has now left the group), and Graeme Edge, have never left their unique formula of orchestral/rock. In the 40-years since their breakthrough album (that was before 8-tracks and cassettes and CD's) "Question of Balance", they have taken adult contemporary music to new heights. Having seen them "Live" several times both collectively as a group, as well as composer/song-writer Justin Hayward during solo tours, I have enjoyed the many styles of performances, with and without orchestral support. This DVD, however, catapults them to the top of their format once again. Backed by a FULL ORCHESTRA (not some local ensemble as had been the case through many of their touring performances), the DVD captures the Moody Blues in their grandest form. Many are unaware that, for their DAYS OF FUTURE PAST album, which spawned the hits Tuesday Afternoon and Nights in White Satin, the original orchestral score had been lost. Viewing and listening to this DVD you would swear that it was the studio orchestra recording that phenomenal work. From the overture through the encore performance of RIDE MY SEE-SAW, the group is as fresh and invigorating as the day that they first began. The four members are not getting any younger but, if you were to close your eyes when the DVD is playing, you were back to the beginning. And, yes, there are three 'new' songs as well: English Sunset, Words You Say, Haunted, that I had never heard before, but thoroughly enjoyed. "Isn't Life Strange", a long-time favorite, sounds as fresh as the day that it was originally released. My only regret is that I wish the Moody's would return to their original ALBUM "STORY" concept where each, and every song, is related to the others instead of just a mix of music (eg. Question of Balance; Days of Future Passed; Every Good Boy Deserves Favor; To Our Children's Children's Children; On The Threshold of a Dream etc.) as began with Octave. This DVD is a KEEPER; a refreshing reminder of how phenomenal a group the Moody Blues is; and how THE DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will never pass, and will forever continue on into the future. I can't wait to see them LIVE once again!! BUY THIS DVD!!

Superb Concert
Saw this concert on PBS a few years back and haven't been able to get it out of my mind. Had to buy it for my collection. They are a marvelous group and the orchestra just makes it that much more musically pleasing.

I AM 60, and still groovin' with them !
Just viewed this Concert DVD on PBS for the first time. It was so much fun, seeing the oldies, there in the audience; dancing, singing, and hanging on every single word of every verse. How great is that for true love and dedication. This concert was totally fantastic! It was a wonderful natural-high-on-music experience.I was channel surfing this afternoon, and surprisingly came upon this. I was breathless and mesmerized for a solid hour and a half. I've seen them in concert too, but this was like a new, fine-wine-fruit-ripening taste, of a dazzling performance. It was inspiring, and moving, especially to hear the symphony back up, trilling along behind their voices.Things and people get better with age? Well yes they do-and Moody Blues continues to "WOW" us! My god, I couldn't believe how awesome they were! As you can see, I am now here at Amazon, purchasing their DVD, and also grabbing a few extras for gifts! I hope I can fit their concert tour into my schedule when they come to Portland, OR. this year. What more can I say. The words fail me! = )A fan of your Clan

Amazing concert
If you like the Moody Blues you need to have this video. The orchestra arrangements produce fabulous sound best listened to with a surround sound system or at least a good stereo receiver. Play it loud and the neighbors will love it too.

Video is better than live...
Just had the good fortune of seeing the MB's live locally and afterward decided to get some of their videos to enjoy at home. This band does play "short" concerts (Eagles recently played 3 hours, over twice the length of the MB's) but the quality of their music is still great and the energy level Justin and John produce is still good considering they're at or near age 70. Fortunately, they're not gone yet! That said, this video is really worth getting. In it, the band exudes a bit more energy than they are offering nowadays playing live and the sound and video production are both very good. I am quite happy to own this and highly recommend it to other fans, as well. Will try to offer an update when the "Red Rocks" video arrives, for comparison. Either way, I'll probably be happy to own both.

Beautifully done
Admittedly, I am prejudiced for Moody Blues music, but I have bought other video products that were poorly done. THIS one is beautiful, the sound quality is awesome (surround sound) and the video quality is wonderful. I'e watched it multiple times....and will again.

wonderfull performance at a spectacular venue
I was especially interested to see and hear this video as I was there in 2000. It was very atmospheric with good sound quality and bought back many memories of that time for me. the moodies were brilliant as always with their unique sound. I would have given it 5 stars but { obviously not a moodies fan} had edited out some of the concert and Ray Thomas playing the flute in his only contribution Legend of a Mind. What a stupid decision.
