Why Is That So Funny?
A great book that lets you experiment and find the boundaries of what comedy is all about - it is what it says it sets out to do explore, and truly explore the elements of what is funny, and comic. A must to understand the dynamics of comedy.

Detailed
This book is great for people looking to get a broad take on clowning, acting and physical theater. It gives a generous amount of examples. Kinda philosophical!

practical book
This book has been such a help! It is based on lifetime experiences and not the theories that other books are based on. It has put things in an entirely new perspective and allowed me to grow as a performer.

Very pleased with book
John Wright's book "Why is That So Funny?: A Practical Exploration of Physical Comedy" is one of the best purchases I've made in this genre. It's incredibly insightful and practical. It's a must have for anyone involved in teaching, studying and performing physical theatre and clown. Teachers and performers alike will benefit from Wright's generously shared arsenal of games and exercises that compliment each section of the book.

Very basic and too much filler for me.
Techniques in this book are very basic and don't lend to humor directly. Lots of filler, too much story. I don't recommend.

Funny, insightful and practical
I have loved reading this book, it is really full of wisdom and experience in a no nonsense kinda way. I think it is a great practical book for actors at whatever stage of their career they are. John is a master and worth hearing what he has to say

Comedy Bible
This book has changed my performing life. It's so detailed and analytical, you can't whizz through it, you have to asborb it slowly. The author weaves in his experience, knowledge and philosophy along with information from the master Lecoq. It's not just for comedy -- all actors would benefit.
