Beautiful Music In Any Language
Although I don't speak or understand Portuguese, it does not hinder me in any way from enjoying the entire 5-CD set. Many of the tracks are breath taking instrumentals. As far as the vocals - well let me put it this way - the U.S.A. has Frank Sinatra - Brazil has Antonio Carlos Jobim. The music contained in these CD's is soothing, relaxing and inspiring. Each selection reminds me of why I like Bossa Nova so much. I have six other "Original Album Series" and this one is my favorite.

This is a superb collection of the earliest Jobim recordings. A must have for fans of Jobim and Brazilian samba music.

Five great albums at a great price.
If you want relaxing music by the giant in bossa nova music this it. Can't go wrong with any album! Nice budget price on this set.

Majorly Disappointed
I have loved Jobim's work with Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto since I first heard them in the early eighties. Along with the two Getz albums, his best-of albums, "Verve jazz Masters" and "A.C.B.'s Finest Hour" have been some of my favorite albums for years. (Some friends of mine asked me to bring my stereo and these cds to play at their wedding party.) So I was excited to find this set of five of his original albums. But alas, I am very disappointed with the music on these albums. Instead of the subdued excitement of Jobim's acoustic guitar and piano playing, these songs are way over-produced, and much of the artistry is covered up by sappy strings and keyboard pablum. This doesn't compare to to the delightful jazz we have loved as "Jobim's music", it's cheesy elevator pop songs.

Big Fan
I became a fan of Jobim after listening to his cd Antonio Carlos Jobim finest hour back in 1997. this purchase almost completes my collection. This Man has created some of the most beautiful melodies of all times. I have not stopped listening to this collection yet. Amazon once again delivered ahead of schedule. Well done!!
