Really, really difficult to read.
These pink keycaps were on sale and I decided to try to order these and fiddle with a cheap mechanical keyboard that wasn't really seeing much use. There are a few practical problems with this set, but the keycaps themselves work fine, the color of the plastic is really what makes them hard to recommend. You do get a load of extra keycaps that can accommodate many different styles of keyboards, I have a very basic and well copied full size ANSI layout for American keyboards, and as the picture shows the keycaps all fit and are basically an exact match for the original key sizes. There are some mold marks on top-facing edge of the caps, so if you need them to look immaculate either be prepared to finish them yourself or look elsewhere. In use, the XDA keys are different from the usual OEM style switches, they are slightly concave, but each key is basically identical in angle to all the others -- it does feel a bit strange and will take a little bit of adjustment to really get comfortable using these, I think. The major issues are, well, obviously the pairing of the pink legends and peach key topper. These are basically unreadable, even in stronger light, and the keys are completely opaque -- do not get any hopes that backlighting will shine through these, they are completely opaque just as the listing says -- these are not shine through caps. Also, while these might look nice on a white keyboard, on a black one the pastel look clashes rather terribly. Finally, the keycaps fit very tight and snug upon the Outemu switches this keyboard uses. Almost too tightly, really. I could remove most of the original keycaps by hand, using the included plastic tool to help with some of the more stubborn ones, but these pink caps are near impossible to pull off and it feels like I will break the switch even if I were to carefully use a keycap puller. Don't expect to be able to freely exchange these between keyboards, remove them at your own risk.So can I recommend these? Ultimately, they are interesting to type on and function well, they don't seem to have any defects or mistakes, there were no problems when installing and using them, and they are currently significantly cheaper than other options. But the extreme lack of readability plus the need to match the pink color means that for the vast majority of people, I would have to say to spend the extra money and get one of the keycap sets that have better visibility on the lettering.

Flexible, non-sculpted keycap set with backlighting!
Keycap sets are a great way to personalize mechanical input devices, such as keyboards and macropads. RGB is great for just plain fun, plus it can be used to indicate key functions. The problem with "sculpted" keycaps, is they're designed to fit in a certain row. If you use a non-standard layout, you can wind up with keys on the "wrong" rows for the keycaps. One of the frustrating thigns I've run across, is the sale of macropads (such as the "Koolertron" ones) that come with keycaps, but they're sculpted! Which makes them largely useless.Keycaps with non-sculpted profiles such as DSA and XDA are UNIFORM, so you can use any key in any location. The problem is that they don't come with backlit options at this time.Except...for these XDA pudding keycaps. I'm not a giant fan of pudding-style keycaps, as they're a bit too much of a good thing for me. Between the keycap profile, the backlighting, and the incredibly affordable price, I just could NOT pass these up for my macro pads. Are these the thickest, highest quality PBT caps ever made? Of course not, they'd cost a bloody fortune! And you'd probably have to join a Group Buy and wait two years - or forever. But these keycaps are PBT, which means no shininess from wear. They are doubleshot, which means the legends are forever. They are XDA, which means you can use any key in any location or order. They are translucent, so they have backlit legends, unlike any other XDA or DSA keycap set I've seen. And, they are AFFORDABLE.There are some "sprue" nubs on some of the keycaps, from the molding process, but you can scrape those off with a fingernail or exacto knife.Buy some!

A step towards Blank keycaps
Pros:- snug fit- quality plastic- inexpensive priceCons:- poor legend readability- obvious spruesI got these keys to experiment with different keyboard layouts, so readability wasn't important to me.If blanks are too difficult but you want that aesthetic and practice, these keycaps might be for you. Although the legends are visible in photos, they don't contrast enough to really pop. These keys are so snug, they almost yanked out my stabilizers - not complaining, as I prefer that than too loose. I believe the snugness contributes to the pleasant sound of the keycaps. It looks like the manufacturers are working on a snap-off sprue, which unfortunately makes them obvious on every key. Hopefully they perfect the process because the finish and material is quite nice otherwise.Update: December 29, 2024The plastic has aged and become brittle, leading to cracks and looseness in the stem of the keycapsSome of the less used keys are fine, but the escape key is absolutely obliterated, with cracks on all sides of the stem. Even some moderate keys have cracks forming, and can jump off the key when pressed like those cheap, plastic toy frogs. If you plan on putting more robust keycaps on your frequently used keys, this set may be for you. Otherwise, it is a 20$ per year keyset, and will need to be replaced.
