Great book!
For my own satisfaction of credibility I will mention that I work for a computer company doing Information technology and engineering work. I found this book thinking “Oh there isn’t going to be anything impressive in here.” But boy was I wrong. This book goes on to explain the applications of business influence in the field of Information Technology work and why it’s useful. It helps to really define what we do and can even help us understand things about the field that others may not have known or even thought to know. I did like the fact that the author also kicked in not only the historic factor in explaining the previous companies that had influence over the technology world. But also explained the reality of how expansive the Technology spectrum really is and how it’s incredibly difficult to just follow one path. Admiringly, the book provides a wealth of knowledge and would suffice to any modern day tech user. At the same time though this is a “Quick Start” guide and typically that title alone would draw in any new comers to show interest in this sort of thing. Unless you worked the field and had experience you would have no idea what a lot of this stuff was. I wish that there was a glossary including abbreviations of Software and Hardware and categorize different aspect rather than trying to tie everything together. At that point it simply becomes too cluttered to understand. Like I said, if you are already in this line of work this book will do you wonders otherwise you are going to need to take a lot of time trying to do your own research and get a basic understanding of many of the different phrases and context used in this book. Now, I must show my great appreciation to those who allowed me to collect on this wealth of knowledge and a deep discount for the purpose of review. Otherwise I hope you all enjoy this book and inclined to take foot in a different world of Technology. Please let me know if this review was helpful, So that I know if I need to improve and comment to help me do such! Thank you and Enjoy!

Jump right in simplified but not over simplified.
Ordered this on a whim really but it is written well enough and does bring several good points into question. I think there could be a way of making it a little more interesting but then again you cant spice this up too much I have not finished it yet but will come back to add some more to this reviewI have received this product for free or cheap and i am in no way obligated to leave a good review. This review is by my choice and is my true and honest opinion. My thoughts and criteria for products I review: (Amazon’s Rating Criteria in Parentheses)1 star (I hate it!): Feel it's a waste of money. Will never use it again. Would never recommend. Not safe to use. Either throw away or return it.2 star (I don’t like it): Don't like it and wouldn't use it again, but may still have at least 1 positive thing about it.3 star (It’s ok): Product has both positives and negatives, and I may or may not continue using it. Someone else may like it more and is potentially still worth purchasing.4 star (I like it): Item as described in functionality purpose and quality. May have 1 or 2 things I don't care for or would change, but not big issues. Would recommend if asked, but wouldn't say I love it.5 star (I love it!): Practically perfect. Nothing lacking in functionality or quality. Love love love it and would not only recommend, but would purchase for others and continue to purchase for myself.

THE GOOD: This is a pretty good guide to get ...
THE GOOD: This is a pretty good guide to get started quickly with ITSM. If just starting out, I would recommend this for a good starting point to get going quickly. Not really a whole lot to say on this. It’s nice that it is a kindle ebook too so I got it immediately and could start reading right away.THE BAD: Nothing really.OTHER:While this review is completely honest, I did receive this product for free in exchange for my honest and real review. This did not, in any way, effect my final review.

Quick dirty and thorough
This is a good overview on ITSM. All IT workers should be aware of this topic and how it is different from ITIL. A fast read to get someone up to speed goes into how ITSM vs ITIL.Disclaimer: I received a discount on this product in exchange for an unbiased review.

Great primer - we'll use this to support our business vision
I'm still scratching the surface of ITIL/ITSM, but we are in talks about implementing some of the framework into the financial services business that I work for. I believe this book will help communicate our vision for IT being an integral part of growing the business. Going to look for several hard copies now...

A nice high-level view of the ITSM world and principles.
ITIL has been a topic in the IT field for more than the last two decades, and it has spawned a science in ITSM (IT Service Management). While a lot of folks in the IT field claim to know ITSM, there's a lot of people who are deluding themselves. A two-day course in either ITSM or ITIL does not an expert make! Reading this book won't make you an expert either, but what it will do (in less than two days of reading) is give you the essentials of the field, what they mean, what they do, and why they are important. This is not a deep-down dive into ITSM and its nooks and crannies, but a hundred-foot view of the field. It's a relatively thin book, and quite readable. Since it's goal is to explain ITSM it accomplishes its goal quite easily, although operational level details are only hinted at. There's enough detail here to help the reader talk logically about ITSM and what it means to an enterprise, but also to prevent the reader getting lost in meetings on the subject. The ideal audiences for this book are (1) technology people who are moving into the ITSM world, or want to see what ITSM can do for them, and (2) managers who need to understand the basics (plus a little bit more) so they can properly lead the initiatives and teams. While some will find the book too high-level, I suspect for those two audiences this is an ideal introduction; there's other, much more detailed books available if more detail is required. For the cost and the fast read, this is a great book for anyone in the IT world who needs to know a bit about ITSM.

Good book for real beginners
If you have somehow some knowledge about ITIL or ITSM skip to chapter 5 or 6, those first 4 chapters are kinda way-too-basic and really superficial. Besides that, when you get to chapter 5-6 you will really understand the power of ITSM applied on business.
