I usually forget I'm wearing it! (after an initial adjustment)
I spent some time researching nasal dilators and decided to pull the trigger on the Silent Mammoth, and I'm really happy with my purchase. I have narrow nostrils, so if i sleep with my head to one side - or take a fast and strong breath through my nose at any time - my nostrils collapse (one side more than the other) which has left me with no choice but to mouth breathe during sleep... until now. I sleep sooo much better. No more waking up gasping for air because my nostrils collapsed. My sleep is deeper, and I'm less easily woken. My oral health has also improved since I can sleep with my mouth closed (see: Andrew Huberman podcast episode on oral health). The Good1. Comfort - It's so comfortable! I usually forget I'm wearing it when I wake up. I did have to adjust it a bit to find the balance between efficacy and comfort, but it was easy.2. Adjustability - The provided tool makes symmetrical adjustments a piece of cake.3. Durability - As long as I don't lose it or crush it, it should last a long time. The alternative is buying products that are made of plastic and break after so many uses, or products that are single-use adhesives.4. Safe materials - Stainless steel and silicone. No plastics or adhesives.5. Low-profile - With the way I've adjusted mine, all I notice is the metal ring sticking out of the bottom of my nose. The wings do push the outside of my nostrils out *ever* so slightly, but the only person who would notice the extra width in my nose is me, and it's very slight. It's hard for my wife to notice a difference in the shape of my nose, too.6. Improved sense of smell - More airflow = better sense of smell. I was surprised by the noticeable difference.7. Sizing - The recommended measurements to find my size were accurate, too.8. Price - I think the price is fair considering it's not a consumable. I'd buy it again. The Bad1. The storage case - This is my biggest complaint. I can't store the Silent Mammoth in the provided case (size large) without the case applying pressure and bending it. Maybe this is due to how I've had to adjust it for my nose, but you'd think that they'd think this through. I doubt the pressure would permanently reshape it, but repeated stress like that can wear out the internal wire (at some point) leading to a breakage. I've tried all orientations, but no luck. Easy solution though: I just store it in another case.2. The wire coating attracts dust/fuzz - I've noticed the silicone coating easily attracts dust and fuzz. A very minor annoyance since it can just be rinsed off, but I figured it's worth mentioning.3. Price - A pro, but also a con. It's expensive for what it is, but for me it's worth the improvement in sleep. Some Tips on ComfortSome people complain about comfort. I found it distracting and uncomfortable before I started adjusting it. I think the key to comfort is adjusting the wings so they provide *just* enough outward pressure on the inside of the nose as to keep the nasal pathway from collapsing when strongly inhaling. It only took me about 5-10 mins of minor tweaking and testing to find what works for me. I'd make a small adjustment, reinsert, and see how comfortable it was. Obviously airflow improved the wider I made it, but once it became too wide it became distracting and uncomfortable. So it just takes a little fine tweaking to find what works for you.Overall, I'm really happy with this product. You can't put a price on good sleep considering the importance for your health and longevity. No plastic, no consumables, and no waste (aside from the useless storage case and nice yet unnecessary packaging). My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make the case bigger and ditch the metal + foam packaging. It looks great, but it's really unnecessary.

A great tool to add to my breathing tool kit
I've tried Breath Right strips as well as the Silent Mammoth, the Rhinomed Mute and Rhinomed Turbine products and this review will be comparing the pros and cons of these.- Airflow -The Silent Mammoth seems to have a similar effect to the Breath Right Strips in that it expands the upper nostril area whereas the Rhinomed products expand the lower nostril area (the nose entry point). For me, the upper nostril expansion is more beneficial than the lower. This may be different for others. So Silent Mammoth and Breath Right Strips are a tie for first in this category.- Comfort -The Breath Right Strips are the most comfortable of all options. I can sleep with them, eat with them, have a conversation, do any sort of mouth movements and barely notice it's there. It's no surprise why they're so popular. The Rhinomed Mute comes in second - I notice it's there but I don't feel any discomfort. The Rhinomed Turbine material is a little more firm (it's for athletes and active people) which means it stays in the nose more strongly but for me I feel agitated after wearing it for a few hours. The Silent Mammoth feels great as long as I'm not doing anything active with my mouth like eating or smiling/laughing. So for stuff like sleeping it's fine. Once I need move my mouth around then it starts to agitate my nose. So in order of Comfort from best to worst - Breath Right Strips, Rhinomed Mute, Rhinomed Turbine, Silent Mammoth.- Appearance -This is a little subjective. If you're fine looking like you have a nose piercing, which I am, the Silent Mammoth has the most low profile look. From 10 feet away you probably won't notice it. The Rhinomed Mute comes in second because it's a little thicker material. Next is the Rhinomed Turbine because it's bright yellow. Then worst of all are breath right strips for obvious reasons. I would not feel comfortable going to work with a breath right strip on my face. The other products are much better looking in my opinion.- Ease of Use -Breath right strips are the easiest to install. There's very little room for error. The Rhinomed products come in second - after ordering the multi pack, you first have to find which size fits your nose then adjust the nostril rings of that version. Coming in last, The Silent Mammoth has taken me a few days of experimenting to figure out a good setup. It's great because there are infinite variations on how you can bend the shape but that also means it will take some time to find the right fit.- Cleaning / Reuse -This is the main reason I wanted to try alternative to the breath right strips. I got really tired of throwing them away every day and cleaning the glue off of my nose. What a mess. So breath right strips are clearly last in this category. Although Rhinomed advertises that they need to be replaced every so often I think they're just trying to sell more products. Warm water and soap after each use should be fine. Cleaning is the same for the Silent Mammoth. I will put Silent Mammoth in first place here because they're easy to clean like the Rhinomed but also come with great storage cases and are intended for reuse.- Cost -This depends on how you look at it. If you're just looking at one time costs, the Breath Right Strips are cheapest, followed by Rhinomed, then Silent Mammoth being most expensive. If you're looking at cost per use - the Silent Mammoth and Rhinomed will earn their keep if you keep cleaning them. The Rhinomed also comes with 3 per purchase so if you're looking at long term cost per use - I'd put Rhinomed first, then Silent Mammoth, then Breath Right Strips.- Conclusion -These all serve slightly different functions so I'd encourage you to try them out to see what works for you. For me, the reusability and airflow from the Silent Mammoth makes it my current favorite. I just with I could use it during more active times like eating, smiling, laughing. I'll probably keep all three in my toolkit and use each depending on the situation.

👎🏻 MAKES ME SNEEZE
I really really wanted this to work, but it just doesn’t. It’s so cute, much cuter than other brands, so that made me feel better about wearing it, but it just does not work. It does not open my nasal passageways at ALL. All it does is sit in there and irritate my nose. Putting it in is SUPER hard. You can easily hurt yourself badly trying to shove it in wrong. I did. And when I finally get it to the right position, it just falls right back out to the wrong position, as pictured. Not to mention, it makes me constantly HAVE TO SNEEZE. If I touched it or moved it around even the slightest bit, it hurt and made me sneeze too. Which makes my nasal passageways swell… which is the opposite effect it is supposed to achieve. It is supposed to open up the airway but instead makes it swell smaller by making me sneeze repeatedly. And to make that worse, you can’t blow your nose with it in either. It’s painful and you can’t wipe efficiently if you do. I have enlarged turbinates that narrow my nasal airway, so maybe that is why it didn’t work. I can’t say for sure. But I did a test where I inhaled through my nose without it in, and inhaled through my nose with it in (before I had sneezed). There was 0% difference. All that taking it out to readjust it and putting it back in only to experience pain and terrible sneezing, all for nothing. I gave it a good umpteen tries, but it was too painful to keep. I returned it. I just wish other brands looked as cute.

Good product
Great product. It definitely helps you breath better and looks like a nose ring if you want to wear it out in public. Mine fell out during sleep and I haven't been able to find it ever since. I wish there was a warranty on it since it's so expensive for how small it is. I dont want to have to keep buying it over and over again. It's worth buying though, just be careful when sleeping with it in.
