Best Value for the Money
So for starters Xtools was an unknown to me when I purchased the product. I watched several YouTube reviewers to see initial response and the D7 seemed to have everyone buzzing about the capabilities for the money. I purchased the D8 BT because I wanted to check a few more boxes. For one you have to decide how far you want to go with your scan tools. If you just want codes - a simple device can do that well - a better device can give you more information and usually the software is more intuitive. If you want bi-directional control - that is something you need to spend a little more. ABS brake bleed seems to come in at the lower levels but you don't get more services until you start paying $400 or more. If you want bidirectional control of units - you step into another tier. Bidirectional is really relevant when you have a control and a motor. How do you know if you burned out your motor for your window or if your window control unit is bad? If you can send the active commands to the motor and it works - you have your answer. If you want the ability to code units - yet another tier. Coding isn't what it sounds - it is usually just putting in some initial settings for a box or for resetting it. The branches somewhat diverge with key creation and programming - key creation is highly specialized services exist for luxury brands and most companies offer a specialty scanner of a key creation add-on device that can augment your current scanner. The other branch is about programming. Programming gives you the ability to flash software to a computer if it isn't functioning correctly and can correct some issues. Recently the hot trend has also been into visualization of topology. I chose the D8 because it is wireless - which is important for mobility when you're under a car, for the fact that it is an excellent scanner, great for diagnosis, supports the vast majority of cars, has a wide array of over 30 services (including key creation for all the cars I own), does active testing which came in handy when troubleshooting a blower, and coding. Before you think this is a paid advertisement - let me share the down sides. The email client running on the device is secured using an older encryption- after May 30th - google will not let you connect to their mail with clients like this - hopefully they will update soon. The product has very limited shop details - if you are looking for this to create a nice customer write up - it does a decent job. The customer manager database and printed forms on the Autel look a little nicer and allow more information. I like also how the autel dongle beeps when you turn off the car so you don't leave it in a customer vehicle. The D8 BT does not beep so I have to remind myself not to forget it. The dongle does come with a nice built in light though when you're fumbling around a car. If you pinch the sides it lights up to find the obd port which can be handy if the port is way under the driver side column. So I think at this point I should switch over to the practical application side. The device is running android 5 and there are a couple of caveats there. Most of the Autel run KitKat (4.4) which is ancient. They do it for stability but with 5 you have a few more options. Of course the newer scanners are running 7 or above from most vendors as of the last release of autel (7.0 finally) and Topdon/Launch also running new versions up to 10. 5.0 is old but popular enough where you can side load apps pretty easily. I loaded Apple Music to listen to while working on my D8 BT- not that I didn't already have my phone but it was a fun nerdy thing to try. (ok full disclosure - I added kindle and a few games too) So what have I done with it so far?I have done an ABS replacement on a Toyota Prius - initially troubleshot the issue and used the D8BT for diagnosis. Replace the ABS Actuator and then used the D8BT to go through the brake bleeding process which was covered step by step. It worked very well. I have checked on a blower in one of my cars using bidirectional commands, and I also used it to troubleshoot my Dad's AC issue on his Sienna van (Which resulted in a replacement of the compressor and condenser), and my Nissan Leaf (which resulted in me understanding some weirdness in that car and fixing a few things). After adding keys to my Nissan Leaf without issue, I decided to add keys to my wife's Prius. Here's the real gold part. I tried adding a key to my Prius and found out her key was not working as master key like it should. I went through the delete all keys process and ended up locked out of my car. I contacted support and they had someone work with me online remotely and they walked through the process and gathered logs. They couldn't solve the issue but I was contacted the next day by a senior engineer who determined the issue was likely with my key reader. They were in constant contact from the moment I had the issue and I couldn't be happier with the service I got.I pulled the panels open and just as the engineer said - it was the key reader slot. Somehow during the key insert procedures I popped a cable off. I put it back on and my old key worked as master again and I used the D8BT to learn the proper procedure listed in the help section to add the new key I got on ebay. It helped me to activate the transponder and then activate it as a proximity sensor.Based simply on the capabilities of the product it is a good buy, based on the three years free updates vs other brands with one year of updates - it is an amazingly crazy buy. If they give this level of support regularly - they have the makings of die hard brand loyalty. As a side note I also bought their endoscope (bendy camera) add-on. It worked right out of the box and the image quality is pretty good (2Mp). For such a cheap price I am more than happy with it. I dropped a bolt during the ABS replacement and it was the most amazing thing to scope down with the magnet attachment and pull back up the missing bolt. My dad was blown away and said it paid for itself on the first job it did. What a cheap price as well for a way better product than the autel 108 or 105. It's a fairly cheap build but works very well. I also used it to reach under a car that the battery had died and scoped up to the hood and popped the hood latch in the blind with only the camera to see what I'm doing. I have to say I'm very happy with their product so far and I hope you give them a shot. You'll be saving money and at the same time getting great features - and at the end of the year - you don't have to pay the hidden costs of most scanners - Autel/Launch/Topdon charge you a fortune to renew the software! Go check out the renewal costs. It is outrageous that a $2000 scanner from Autel will cost you $1000 to renew it in only one year. With Xtool will be free for 3 full years!

BEST OPTION FOR THE MONEY
Had been looking at Autel, Mac,Snapon and others for more than a year. Have used Snapon before and found the D8 to be far easier to use. The Android operating system is flawless. I opted for the freedom of Bluetooth because lets face it, cables are always in the way and just dont reach far enough. I am often working on my own vehicles and what this has saved me in 2 weeks has been worth the purchase. Having helped out a few driends and saved them hundreds rhat a greedy dealer would have charged is quite satisfying. The D8 does it all, well not all, but almost. Service updates seem available almost daily, which tells me that somewhere a bunch of techs are typing code and improving an already incredible system. My first automatic sacn was flawless and blazingly fast. Unit pulled up VIN data almost instantly and then another press of a button on the screen and every trouble code for the car was displayed. It may take a little time for some to navigate the screens, but it is set up to be user friendly. If you can use a smart phone, you can diagnose your vehicle issues. You have acess to body control functions, transmission functions, engine, hvac, airbags, lights, door locks, and can even make new keys. I have only scrathed the surface. I have only had this thing for about 2 weeks and it has paid for itself. Shame on a Missouri Toyota dealer for over charging and milking a friend. At 125 just to connect diagnostics at a dealership, you can quickly ascertain what a savings this unit is going to be. At 300 to program a new key, well its not hard to figure out where I am going. This is the future of cars. Trouble code scanners only give you suggestions of what to replace, With the D8 you can run actuation tests and verify if the component is functioning. Most issues, not all, are easily resolved. Nice to be able to run system checks and find that the component is functional and the real issue is just a bad wire, fuse, relay etc, instead of throwing hundreds in sensors and hoping one of them resolves the issue. When buying a used car and you see a trouble code reader in the sellers vehicle, plug this baby in and acess the memory of the ECU. Quick code erasures will still be stored in most cases. Nice to be able to see that airbags have a code, brakes transmission etc.If you are on the fence about a purchase, get off it and I promise you will not regret it. For the home mechanic, repair videos are just a finger tip away, code diagnosis and sugestions on issues aee there as well. Customer service is just as fast as the D8 and I am impressed at their speed. The only thing different I wished I had done was get this thing earlier! Xtool, thankyou for the excellent product, fast service and great customer service. This is a game changer for the little guy. Well done, and keep up the good work! One thing that had me on the fence was compatibility with my Dodge truck, rest at ease, the D8 works not only on my truck but my cars as well, even allows access to the 4x4 subsystems. Very satisfied with my purchase, and I am sure you will be too. John F. Missouri USA

Best bang for your buck
I would like to start off by saying that I originally purchased this Scan tool for reading failures that were electrical related. It was an easy first time use. It was able to scan and point me into the direction of a faulty body control module. The other thing that I found useful and cost saving is that I was able to program a key to another of my vehicles with the assistance of a very knowledgeable customer service team. Everything was very intuitive and simple to navigate. I would definitely recommend this unit and will be purchasing the accessories that are available for this unit and for the price you can't beat it!

Great for the average DIY person.
The media could not be loaded. Very nice and easy to use tool. I feel like even an inexperienced person could use this. The only reason I returned this is because I need more advanced features since I am an auto tech and do this for a living. So I will spend a little more to obtain that however this is a good scanner for the price. If you're using this purely to work on your own stuff and not others then it's worth it. If you're a professional in the field then you're going to want to buy a more expensive scanner with more features.
