This guidebook came highly recommended from a colleague and I picked it up. In a society where every detail of your life is at the fingertips of anyone online being knowledgeable at what you can limit sharing and how you can manage it is important. Not only does this guidebook help you to understand what means and capabilities are used to find information but it TEACHES YOU HOW TO DO IT. The best way to understand what information is out there on you, your business etc… is to know how to look for it. I have so many sections of this book tagged with post-it’s and reference tabs. It will continue on with me for years to come. I cannot wait to start the next selection from Mr. Bazzell I’ve purchased.

Author an expert in showing how we as a scociety desire to be "helpful" giving away personal information then resold to other third parties. What is more scary are data breaches, medical records, drivers licenses you thought nothing about being helpful and letting each doctors office photocopy. Law Enforcement is fine if there is a valid reason to ask for identification. Dentists, Doctors, and phony signs to make people believe it is the law. Examining ones ID probably is OK, copying it or relying on worthless privacy policies is un necessary risk. Someone feels certain i am not who i say, i can sit and wait if needed for a peace officer to say i am who i claim to be. Why? If i lied at a doctor's office, likely silver bracelets will be next and a ride downtown. Dont let the crooks drive policies that weaken our privacy. Even in the emergency room just an insurance card and credit card have been sufficient. Most states they have duty to care laws which mean they fix you regardless. Stick to your beliefs, stay calm and especially reasonable and polite. The book shows how to research mass databases and breaches where sadly most folks personal data was stolen from. My doctor does not have to worry, 20 years, and i have not provided such information, a breach in some new cloud service will get minimal information. I highly recommend using the techniques in this book to help shape up your future by not giving info that many times is not needed, and cleaning up any you can.

This book is jam packed with details, walk throughs, explanations and everything you need to know about OSINT. Love the author. He makes great use of real world examples throughout this book. Sometimes he goes into too much detail and other times he lacks some detail, but overall, this book is fantastic for beginner, intermediate and anyone wanting to get into the know about OSINT and protect yourself from spying eyes. HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who wants to become a little more anonymous to the public. This book isn't a FIX all and it won't do illegal activities, but it does show you how to make it much harder for the normal person to see your real information.Love the parts about creating LLC's and renting hotel rooms, cell phones and numbers. Just remember, this book does NOT explore illegal activity, but shows you how to use legal activity to hide some things. It is all still discoverable via Court orders.

Even if you don’t do this for a living, which I do, you will find the information in this book will enable you to determine who owns that lousy condo you rented for your vacation, what is that email you got legitimate or was it a scam, where can I found out more about that individual who wants me to invest my hard earned money, and the list goes on and on and on and on…

The Ninth edition provides a wealth of methods to not only use a wide range of OSINT tools, but also provides the reader excellent guidance on how and why to use them. Additionally Mr. Bazzell lays out the steps to build, maintain, and update your own OSINT system. I have previously purchased the 5th edition and trust me, the information in the 9th edition will impress! My only reason for only giving 4 stars is that, at this time, there is no e-book version. I understand the reasons given but there is so much information in this edition that having it available in e-book format would greatly aid when your research takes you out in the field.

Compre el libro versión Kindle, y esta horrible, no se puede leer, yo soy fan de su trabajó, compre la edición ocho en formato fisico, pasta blanda, pero esta versión digital me dejo muy desilucionado, haber sido lanzado sin ser corregido y optimizado al dispositivo, grave error, ya que lo hace imposible de leer ya que las palabras se juntan hasta el grado que no se pueda leer el texto, ademas de que las imagenes contenidas tienen error de visualización, esperó corrijan pronto ese inconveniente y de ser asi comprare nuevamente el libro y cambiare mi opinión con respecto a la version digital Kindle. Cabe añadir que la version física es muy buena y sin duda es uno de los mejores libros, si es quieres conocer mas acerca de la Investigación en Fuentes Abiertas.

Great book. Simply the best reference for OSINT in EU

Great book.You do not need any pre-knowledge.But even if you do the examples and techniques will give you food for thought.The only heavy part of this book is the weight.
