Interesting Stuff to Learn
I had an old boss in high school that was big into Astrology and I thought it was so interesting. I had to keep it a secret from my crazy family because they thought Astrology was of the Devil. I've had my chart done a few times and just dab in it for fun. The book is a great book to thumb through and read sections at a time. I don't think that's the intent of the book, but since I just dab in it, that's what I did. I read up about my fantastic sign (Aries) and my daughters sign and it's so interesting to see how our signs fit our personalities. Luckily I'm making better choices in men with the right sign for me. You will learn more about just signs. You could learn about birth charts, planets and how they all come together. The book is very informative and a fun read.

A Decent Guide to Beginner's Astrology...
First off, let me state that I have a healthy respect for astrology. I began to study it myself when I was a teen, and have charted for myself as well as others. Therefore, I am always open to learning more, and I enjoy reading new publications that might give insight now and then. Unfortunately, in this book, I did not find that. While this book is great for telling people how things work -- the Sun, Moon, Aspects, etc.; and it explains them very well, I was torn because it gave some information that I found erroneous. The sun signs that this book regards as ideal for relationships for myself are all wrong. In fact, the sun sign that the author thinks will run from me I have been with for nearly 30 years, and married to for nearly twenty. Explain that. The ones he thinks I would work with? Nope. Those relationships never worked. So you see, you cannot go by sun sign. There are so many more considerations, which were never gone into. However, again, this book does a good job of giving information regarding the explanation of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Aspects, Transitions, etc.; and that is information that you need to know. I honestly just think that before you take all this information to heart you need to forget the last part of the book (that gives you compatibilities) and rather work with your own heart and head. Don't live by the page. This book just didn't show me anything I didn't already know, and while it is a fairly good reference book, I can't see using it myself; but it is an excellent place to start for others.I received a free copy of this book from Reading Deals but this in no way influenced my review.

Pretty Basic
This Book has some good content but is a little bit basic for the most part . Also there’s a section that describes how each sign responds to a situation, but they completely forgot to include Virgo. So weird.

Behavioral astrology
This is exactly what I wanted to read. The book talks about basic things that life has got. This book allows one to understand how life exists. The book is extremely useful to everyone. I can as well state that this book is a very user friendly in how it's information is being laid out. For those who love learning about astrology this is the best book for you. I highly recommend it

Just wasn't for me
I love astrology books, this was my first of this type (that goes deeper into birth charts). Some people, in the reviews, commented on how basic or beginner it was. I can agree with that, it was very beginner level and basic. It still went over my head. I think my problem with this book is just how BASIC it was. I do not feel like it completed subjects or concepts very well and simply opened and idea then told you to look online to find more. I agree that it provided you with a lot of great online resources (that were free!!) but I felt like I had this book, a pad of paper, and a web browser open at all times. I didn't want to do my own research, I wanted to learn through the book and I was not able to accomplish that. As soon as I figured out how to type the long links correctly into my phone, write down my info, I'd come back to the book and the very next page was a new concept. This book was just not for me at all, I wouldn't suggest to anyone I know.

Not as advanced as I was hoping for
I don’t know exactly what drew me to buying this book, I’ve read several astrology books in the past 5 years and with the title and look of this book, I thought it would be more advanced…obviously I didn’t read the reviews. It’s definitely more of a beginner’s astrology read. It was great for review and I liked that it covered so many different astrological viewpoints when it comes to compatibility and understanding yourself. I will say I did learn a few things that I either didn’t come across previously or just didn’t remember because there’s so much to learn when it comes to astrology. I did find a lot of the information very un-thorough, especially towards the end, it was like there were a few typos and incomplete chapters which made me frustrated cause I wanted a deeper understanding of certain placements, such as the nodes…honestly after that I could barely finish it because it wasn’t complete! If you’re looking for more advanced and well written astrology books, I recommend the author Stephen Arroyo and then he also makes several recommendations for good astrology books within his books.

Certainly a good book to start with that gives you all the basics
As someone who has been drawn towards all the different branches of Occult sciences and as someone who has indulged in that curiosity by trying to self-learn the subjects, I can attest to the fact that most of these subjects are very difficult to learn by oneself. Even in this age of information, where google can provide answers to any question under the sun, one needs to be careful of all the misinformation floating around. My journey with astrology has been that of love and hate. I am intrigued by it, but none of the books I have read so far actually helped me to 'understand'. Oh, I can tell you what your zodiac sign traits are and that it is better to keep your mouth shut when Mercury is in retrograde… But those are just things that I kind of picked up rather than learning how's and why's.And with all that rambling the point I am trying to make is that I absolutely loved Charlie Emerson's Behavioural Astrology because it turned out to be a book that gave me an experience that almost felt like chatting with a friend rather than listening to a lecture from a rather high browed professor who likes to use big words. There… I said it. It was really easy to get into the book and glean important information from it because Charlie treats his audience (readers) like a friend through his delivery. The book is structured in a way so that people with vague or no idea of astrology can pick it up and understand the materials covered. That is mostly because the author has structured the content and then narrated it in a simple friendly voice with examples and instances from his own life. He covers the different zodiacs and planets (and even asteroids) with the aim to chart out a birth chart and understand what kind of personality (and why) a person is naturally predisposed towards. There are beautifully done charts and graphics sprinkled throughout the book for those who are more of a visual learner.Whether you are someone who wants to take up astrology as a career choice, or you are someone who, like me, is just curious about what it is, or if you need a little bit of help in introspection towards understanding yourself (strengths & weaknesses) better… This is a certainly a good book to start with that gives you all the basics without ever making you feel overwhelmed.
