On-Stage ASMS4730 Isolation Shield (Background Noise and Reflection Barrier for Microphones, Portable Absorption and Diffusion, 5/8”-27 Threaded Mic-Stand Mount, Adjustable Height and Distance)

I bought this shield to reduce ambient noise when recording in my home, and it seems to do the job pretty well. I play hammered dulcimer and record with two large-diaphragm condenser mics mounted horizontally above the instrument, so the Isolation Shield is also oriented horizontally over the mics, Thus placed, it allows recording in the warmer months with the air conditioning on and coming through a ceiling vent overhead (making the process more comfortable), and also seems to help block out traffic noise from outside. The only drawback is that its weight, combined with the mics and mounted horizontally and suspended over the instrument, makes the microphone stand and whole arrangement a bit unstable - I may experiment with hanging some sort of counterweight from the opposite end of the horizontal mic stand boom pole.
