Works fine.
The hardest part was getting the back battery compartment cover to pop off. No setup required, the remote worked fine as soon as the two AAA batteries were installed. I find the larger size of the replacement remote control easier to use. And I like that it uses replaceable AAA batteries rather than requiring a USB recharging cable.

It learns very quietly and secretly…
I bought a garage sale Apple TV for $9, but it didn’t have a remote. After fiddling around with the remote app on my iPhone to no avail, I finally decided to buy one. I’ll skip to the punch line: it works. However, in the ‘learning’ mode, it couldn’t always do what was required — for example, pressing the ‘left’ arrow did nothing and it never learned the left arrow officially. After trying a bit, I just ‘escaped’ to Apple TV and all the buttons/arrows/etc. on the remote work. It even powers the TV off and on, so I only need this single gadget. It doesn’t come with batteries, by the way, so have a couple AAAs on hand.

Looks the part but NAH
This is a basic universal remote. You could find a less expensive one. My Apple Remote with volume broke so I tried this one. The problem is once you turn the volume on this remote it glitches out and stops working on the Apple TV and actually stops working all together then starts working again after a long wait. They only mention in the manual it won’t work if you have 2 Apple TVs but it didn’t do a good job with the tv volume and connected Apple TV either. Now I’m just going to get the Apple Remote because this thing is cheaply made.

Remote works but isn’t like the original
This works as it should out of the box HOWEVER it’s like the TEMU version. Extremely lightweight and uses aaa batteries. If you like your original but it got damaged or lost, don’t buy this one.
