It's not super high quality and there is a slight static sound in the background. But I think it adds to the retro vibe. I use this a lot for little mistake gifts and I really like it. I've been using it for 2 years and it still works great. I plug in an aux cord to my phone, play a custom Playlist I put together for the mistake, and then press play. It auto stops, so I can just leave my phone playing for a while before coming back

This recorder is awful….cassette door does not close correctly…off kilter. I have to hold it closed in order for the machine to run. Sound quality is poor…sounds like a fan running in the background. Very disappointing

I needed a tape player that I could record my singing group new songs, and take the player to our practices. It works perfectly for what I need it for. I like to write new songs out, so when I record a song. I can play it back at my own pace. Fast delivery and the price was great!

Everyone claims low noise. But those glorious Radio Shack days are over and tape recorders these days have really bad noise control. Despite the claims, this tape recorder has quite a bit of tape hiss when recording. Not good when recording your own tapes.

My daughter was so excited to get this and was gentle with it. However, it stopped working correctly and now she can’t even use it. It’s too late to return it, otherwise I would. It doesn’t close correctly anymore and if you do happen to close it with a cassette in it, it eats up the cassette. Needless to say, I’m disappointed in this product.

Number 1: if you put the cassette in it, the cover will not shut all the way on the left side no matter how many adjustments you try. 2: if there isn't complete silence surrounding you and beyond, and try to record your voice, it picks up every background noise and blocks most of your own voice. I bought it to help me record my own voice to record a sleep meditation, but 3 trys later, I was still hearing a fan from my son's rooms, noise outside, even cars, that actually covered my voice so I couldn't ever hear it clearly as I need to keep my voice soft and fluid for sleep recording. I waited to open the box due to finishing other projects first, and too much time went by to return it. Otherwise I never would have kept it, nor would I recommend it to anyone. I would pay maybe 5.00 for this at a yardsale, but it's not worth the purchase here on Amazon. Maybe I just got one lemon, but I give truth on my reviews. Hopefully, it works well for others, but mine hasn't whatsoever.

Was looking for a microphone and when I saw the prices for them alone, I figured why not buy another recorder instead? This one was inexpensive and very easy to use. Sound is average without microphone and pretty good with microphone. I really like it. Highly recommend without hesitation.

THANK YOU FOR STILL HAVING THIS AS AN OPTION FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T MANAGE NEW TECHNOLOGY! WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! IT WASN'T CLEAR THAT IT COMES WITH A BLANK TAPE BUT IT DOES.

On one, the record button jammed. On the other, the play button jammed. I am a street musician (busker) in Toronto, Canada, and you are making my life more difficult.
