Perfect replacement for 20 year old installation
Excellent replacement for my old Firex 1240C from 2003. The smoke alarm system is referred to as a dual voltage power supply with 230v mains power or 9v battery backup.Firex have replaced models over the years however the AC connector and the backplate remains the same. This makes installation of the Kidde/Firex KF20 simple as existing wiring and backplate can be used. This is the second replacement of my original fire alarms. The previous replacement was a Firex Smoke Alarm 4870 (Kidde), also compatible, however this smoke alarm is unavailable. The Firex KF20 is fully compatible with the original system.Therefore, a simple installation by removing the old alarm and unplugging the AC connector, followed by plugging the AC connector into the new smoke alarm and affixing to existing ceiling plate.New unit comes with rawplugs, screws and ceiling mount – but not needed if replacing an existing smoke alarm.

Replacement model for the FireX 120-1123c
I bought two FireX KF20's to replace old smoke alarms. Order arrived within 48 hours. I can confirm the FireX KF20 is a perfect swap for the FireX 120-1123c.The fittings and mains socket are identical. It is a simple switch over. You might have to change the base plate as the plastic clips that clip onto the smoke alarm tend to break off due to age or misuse.All the fittings are included in the box - smoke alarm, base plate, mains plug kit, screws/raw plugs, and instructions.

Plug and Play to replace my ancient smoke alarm!
So my mains powered smoke alarm started being defective (not its fault, it's 20 years old and I am a lazy sod).I did my research and found that I couldn't buy a like for like replacement but that I could buy this model and it would have the same connectors.Bought it, it arrived early and I installed. I say installed, I plugged the power lead into the same socket as was on the old one and I twisted the casing into the locked mode, the same as the old one.All in all a very nice 10 seconds worth of work. I know have a working smoke alarm and I'll make sure I replace it in 10 years this time!Thank you for a stress free product.

one worked fine and other did not
ordered two of these, one for upstairs ,and one for down ,one worked great with no problems theother sadly did not. even swapped them over and both ok so I discovered the problem was with theconnection lead from mains to detector , not good workmanship on makers side, will be in touch with amazon. will give 5 for one that works and 0 for the other
