Q: Why does my male 5# small dog go to the very edge to pee, and urine goes under the mat and on the floor even when its a brand new pad?

I can't explain why, but I can let you know that your dog is not alone. I also has a small dog and he often walks into the wee wee pad and doesn't exactly get it where is should go. He also goes outside when walking and puts his front paws in the grass and pees right on the sidewalk. The pads with the insta-rise border has made a big difference, so if you haven't tried them yet I do recommend that you try them. I also put my wee wee pad on top of something that you can pick up and toss in the washing machine....it is much easier than shampooing the carpet, or constantly mopping your floor. (I use bath mats, they are thick enough to keep the wet from soaking all the way thru) Good luck!
