Tried one just to see how hot it got and taste. Heated up hot , taste ok.

These meals are well seasoned and if you are hungry you’ll probably eat them and be kind of happy about it, they compare favorably to MRE’s in that they are not loaded with fat calories. These portions are not the triple portions that are common in many restaurants, so if you are very hungry you’ll want to eat two (or more).The only meal I’d avoid buying/eating is the Vegetarian three-cheese lasagna because it just didn’t meet my expectations of what lasagna should be. I’m comparing these to other survival food offerings, not to “normal people food” and this product edges favorably taste wise when compared to MRE’s, or freeze dried food.The meal generates so much heat as it cooks itself inside the box that both ends of the box tend to come open very easily, leaning something on the ends (like a towel) to help keep them closed is something I recommend, and be very careful to leave it on a heat tolerant surface, after you activate it it’ll get boiling hot in a minute or two and until it cools off you really won’t want to touch or move it. Despite following the directions and taking extra precautions I find that the meal often is tepid in the middle, placing a towel on top to hold the heat in didn’t seem to make the centers on subsequent attempts get warmer; so despite all the scary boiling sounds and billowing steam the meal comes out semi-hot (I deducted 1 star for this).This is your best bet for civilian emergencies, or for odd hours in towns where all the stores/restaurants close early. I always have these around, and often travel with them; and occasionally I actually crave one! The price here on Amazon is out of line because they are charging $32.55 more than factory retail for “free” shipping. The moral of the story is: buy it from the manufacturer at retail and pay for the shipping and pay less than “free” shipping on Amazon. (I deducted 1 star for this)

These are good extended shelf-life meals. Still, Google is your friend. Search for the manufacturer and check the pricing there. They are about $20.00 cheaper, including shipping, for my address.

I actually use these on a regular basis and enjoy an easy hot meal when it would otherwise be difficult to have a hot meal. What I detest and see more and more is this idea that the price can be jacked up to cover the cost of shipping and people are then told the shipping is free. Anyone can check Heater meals and find out a case is about 55 dollars. Yes they are heavy and it does cost a bit to ship. Not saying the overall price is bad just that I detest the idea I am in idiot and will be fooled into thinking I am not paying for the shipping.
