YAZOO / UPSTAIRS AT ERIC'S

Wrong version
Make sure you know which version you are getting. The re-mastered one does not have the same track listing as that stated for this item. Situation does not actually appear on this album and that was the one I particularly wanted. To be fair, Amazon did give me a refund though.

Eighties iconic album, not as good as I remembered
I love the most famous tracks as much now as I did back then - Don't Go and Only You are classics - but I was quite disappointed by the rest of the album. It did not seem to have the innovative brilliance that made it one of the most talked about of its time.

Brilliant but then I'm biased!
I had the original cassette of this album which I've probably still got somewhere! I loved it in the 80s and still do now. Excellent album, Alison Moyet & Vince Clarke. I must get the rest of Yazoo's albums......again!

Complete and original line-up - at long last!
Having listened several times to this remaster the sound is really good and it's great to have the original album tracklisting reissued for the first time on CD (no "Situation" replacing either "Tuesday" or the very abstract "I Before E"). The latter track may not show off Alison's vocals in any way (but it does involve a couple of the crew's mothers speaking some very strange dialogue in each channel) but it BELONGED on the album, however difficult it was when compared to the rest of the tracks. The release itself therefore merits 5 stars, but it would have been 6 if they could've kept a couple of bonuses (like the 12" of "Don't Go" and maybe the US "Situation" as of the same period), rather than purely releasing these on the completists 4 disc box set. But the released format is the 'pure' one, so shouldn't really grumble. Love "Bring Your Love Down", "In My Room" and "Goodbye 70's" all over again - buy it!

Great album
I bought this album in vinyl when it first came out and was scratched beyond listening so replaced it in CD format. Excellent service

brilliant cd i have always loved Alison moyet and Vincent ...
brilliant cd i have always loved Alison moyet and Vincent together. their music is AMAZING. it is such a shame they hated each other so yazoo were only together for 18 months WOW. but listen to the music they made/wrote in that short space of time. would recommend this cd. Alison moyets voice is one of the greatest ever.
